The space
The studio is spacious, about 660 sq feet, private and brand new! It is located on the upper floor of a new two storey workshop and has a private entrance with electronic number code locks. When guests are visiting the workshop is not in use.
The building is built into a hill so the second floor is only 4 steps up from the ground level of the main property building where the owners live year round.
The studio building is attached to the main building only via a large wrap around deck, which guests are welcome to use. There is 12 feet of deck between the two building walls. The studio has it's own private deck area for guests with a table, patio umbrella with solar lights, chairs and private new bbq. There is a walk out at deck and inside floor level. There is also a 10 x 12 fully screened tent on the main deck, (available in the warmer months) overlooking the lake and campfire area, with privacy curtains for guests to use exclusively during their visit in spring, summer and fall. There are ashtrays provided and smoking is allowed in outdoor areas.
New for the summer 2025 season, a 10 x 10 sauna building with larger window overlooking the lake and with separate cold water shower and a two person hot tub. In the fall and early spring the hot tub is under an enclosed tent.
Inside the suite there is a large main open concept room featuring a king bed, cosy living room area with new propane fireplace stove, dining area and kitchenette with large sink. There is a private full bath as well as a private study/quiet room that has a twin size day bed with trundle bed underneath which is perfect for a private kids bedroom or for reading and relaxing and streaming games or shows on the second smart television. The studio apartment now has two smart tvs! Bedding is seasonal theme so furry and cosy in the winter and light and comfy in the summer. Numerous throws and pillows to keep you comfy.
The studio kitchette has a large sink, new air fryer/oven, microwave, griddle, toaster, induction plate, cutlery and plates etc. There is a quiet mini fridge inside the suite and a full size fridge/freezer just outside the apartment door inside the workshop on the main floor for guests to use. There is a separate dedicated fully stocked coffee station with a keurig combo coffee maker for brewed or pods, kettle and numerous individually packaged flavors of Twinnings Teas. The harvest style pine table comfortably seats four or you can chose to sit in the bay window while eating your meal. We also provide milk, cream, sugar, some breakfast cereals, jams, olive and vegetable oils, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper, other treats and snacks in the studio for your arrival.
There are popular games like Scrabble and Monopoly with a horse theme, jenga, chinese checkers, chess, backgammon, cards, a cribbage board, kids games like snakes and ladders and a cottage themed puzzle in the suite.
The studio has fast wifi and internet provided by Starlink. Make it a working holiday if you must! You can use the study as your away from home office. The deck has two torch light bluetooth speakers combo. There are two campfire areas, the main one near the suite overlooking the lake and the other with grill at the beach. Both are fully stocked with wood and will be ready to light for your visit (as long as there are not fire restrictions in place due to dry conditions). There are flashlights, lighter, candles and a rechargable lantern in the suite for your use during your visit as well as a full s'mores kit (marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers) and roasting sticks that can be used to cook marshmallow and other campfire treats like hot dogs/sausages.
Guests are free to use the other ammenities of the property, like a half bathroom and washer/dryer just inside the back door of the main house building. Our private hiking trail network is about a 1 km stroll and is maintained year round. Wander and sit quietly at the frog pond and watch the tadpoles in various stages of their development into bullfrogs. Listen to the birds. Saviour the calls of the loons as they fish for their meals in the lake or sing during the evening hours.
Fall means watching the numerous speciese of trees surrounding the studio change color. Bright reds, oranges and yellows. Sweater weather is lovely here and you can watch the sunset or fish from the dock which is removed for winter at the end of October.
Star gazing is amazing from any spot on the property. Really lovely to star gaze from the hot tub. Chipmunks, deer and other woodland creatures are abundant as well, especially along the woodland hiking trail.

Neighborhood highlights

We are located on a small lake in South Frontenac between the towns of Westport and Godfrey that is home to about 85 individual cottages and year-round home owners. Our property is about 5 acres and features over 440 feet of sandy or rocky beachfront as well as forest and rocky cliffs. There is a quiet dirt road that separates the accomodation and forest from the long lakefront portion of the property. The road goes around a small bay and has a loop at the end which makes it perfect for "walking down country road" or for jogging. Year-round at our private beach front you will find a picnic table and small cast iron chimalea stove for beachside campfires. During the warmer months we have a long dock with room to park your boat. While you are here, you can use our canoe and paddleboat. Try your skill on our paddleboards. Fish are abundant along our waterfront and on our side of the lake. Our waterfront is perfect for paddleboarding, for sunbathing and our dock is great for fishing or watching the fish swim by or for listening to the loons who call our lake home. We have built a 1 km hiking trail that is private and takes guests through a lovely forest, frog pond and wildflower field. A large campfire area is stocked with firewood and overlooks the lake and has several chairs to choose from. We have so many picture perfect spots for selfies and photos or for painting, meditating and relaxing. Forest bathing or water bathing, you decide. Both are daily routines here. To make your stay even better, a smores kit is included in the accomodation. Enjoy the double hammock with the incredible view overlooking the lake.
Westport, Ontario is located on the historic Rideau Canal route that travels from Lake Ontario to Ottawa. The town is so scenic and is also known for it's amazing boutique shopping. We are also close to the brand new River House Winery, a stunning wedding venue and gourmet restaurant as well as a scenic vineyard with amazing ambience. Another favorite in that department is the Scheuermann Winery in Westport with fining dining or drop in wood fire pizza to stay or go.
Our lake is located in between Wolfe Lake and Bob's Lake and we are just a few kms, by road, west of Camp Iawah on Wolfe Lake.
