In season, whales and their young come to this peaceful bay with all sand, no rocks. At times is great for bodysurfing, bring fins. Quiet beach, no vendors. Swimming good for all ages. Even paddle boarding at times.
Everything is available nearby from golf cart to bicycle to car rentals.
The golf course can be walked after 5 pm or on Mondays. Or is approximately $100 per round.
Santa Theresa surf beach 1/2 hour away by car. Manzanilla zip lining 1/2 hour away by car.

Seaside Oasis in Paradise
Escape to your dream getaway steps away from beautiful Ballena Bay and its 8 km long pristine beach perfect for swimming or playing in gentle waves.
The exclusive community of Los Delfines is halfway between the major centers of Liberia and San Jose. Its own Tambor airport is 5 minutes away, and a 25 minute plane ride from either major airport. Ballena Bay is at the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, renowned for its natural way of life and one of the worlds 5 "blue zones" where people live a healthy, long life. The bay is protected, sandy and a mix of calm or at times waves good for body surfing or boogie boarding. Bring your fins.
Eat fresh fish from the nearby village or visit one of the nearby organic farms, which also come visit the front gates on Sunday mornings' farmers market where you can buy fresh produce and baked goods, art and craft.
The community is gated with 24 hour security including the beach. The golf course is the finest on the Nicoya Peninsula. You can stroll its paths on Mondays or daily after 5:00. The local "corner store" is well stocked including with liquor although you will likely want to make at least one trip to nearby Cobano or Pochote for certain major groceries. There is also a beach front restaurant where you could easily take all of your dinners while here. The pizza is famous.
Medical care is available at nearby Cobano or the doctor does make house calls.
Things to do, include boat tours, including to famous Tortuga Island, fishing trips, horseback riding on the beach and nearby rivers, ziplining at nearby Manzanillo. Santa Theresa surfing beach is less than an hour away. A local car rental company is nearby.
Macaw Haven is located across the street from the beach and the ocean is visible from the living room window. It is a spacious and modern bungalow, well decorated and equipped with comfortable furniture. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and one of the couches pulls out to a queen sized bed. For those seeking privacy, the casita by the pool is an exclusive hideaway with its own seating area, desk and bathroom. (making 4 + 3 bedroom / baths). All rooms are air conditioned of course.
There is a large, open concept kitchen, dining and living room area with television service as well as wifi of course.
Our home is equipped with laundry, iron and hair dryer.
Our luxurious and private property offers a main house and a charming casita, which could be a peaceful haven for a lucky couple, or a deluxe dedicated workspace / office if things need to get done. The private salt water pool anchors the outdoor oasis with shaded outdoor kitchen, barbeque and shaded sitting area. There is a private outdoor shower. The grounds are well landscaped with lush greenery.
Whether you're seeking a refreshing dip or a tranquil spot to soak up the sun, the pool area is a secluded haven for ultimate relaxation. And looking up at the sky you will no doubt see beautiful scarlet macaws fly by. At evening, the sun will set over the nearby hills in your full view.
Our property manager, Luis, will be available on site if needed or for house emergencies. He is fluent in English and Spanish. I can be contacted on Airbnb messaging as well.
Please note, quiet time on the resort is 10 pm to 7 am daily.
Los Delfines is a growing community! As of June, 2024, lots are being prepped for townhomes, across the street. They do a nice job generally of fencing it off but at different phases there may be construction related noises during business hours. We have no way of knowing the schedule.
