Guest access
Guests have full, private access to our spacious furnished home, with the exception of one locked storage room.
You’ll also enjoy private lakefront access to Upper South Long Lake directly from the shore and seasonal dock at the property—perfect for kayaking (two provided), swimming, fishing, or relaxing by the water. Or the lake is known for superb winter ice fishing.
From spring into the fall, if you’re bringing your own boat, let your hosts, Katie and Hunter, know in advance! We’ll be happy to provide directions to the nearby public boat launch. Or after your booking we will send you our rental recommendations for boats, pontoons or jet skis or a rent an ice house for winter fishing.
Off-highway vehicles (OFH) welcome to access nearby multi-use trails.
Crow Wing County has more than 700 miles of snowmobile trails maintained by local clubs.
Cross country ski trails are groomed in winter months and also make for great hiking trails.
Other things to note
•Cleaning Fee & Hot Tub Care:
The listed cleaning fee is discounted for guests and includes the hot tub fee. This fee goes directly to a local, family-owned professional cleaning and maintenance company. The team thoroughly cleans the lodge before your arrival, launders all linens for the 9 beds and 3 bathrooms off-site, and maintains the property, including the hot tub.
If fresh water has been added to the hot tub on the day of your arrival, it may not be fully heated to the optimal temperature by check-in but will warm throughout the evening. Thank you for your understanding regarding hot tub care at a short-term rental.
•Traveling with Pets?
You’re welcome to bring up to two dogs with you, just be sure to book the pet fee. Please bring your own leashes and kennels. We provide a dog dish, a blanket for them to relax on, and a pooper scooper with waste bags for easy cleanup.
•Weather Notice:
In our beautiful up north corner of rural Minnesota, every season brings something special, and sometimes, unpredictable weather. No refunds are given for weather-related events, including storms, blizzards, road closures, power outages, or travel delays. We recommend travel insurance to protect your trip. •Garage & Parking:
Guests are welcome to use the 24’ x 38’ unheated garage for indoor parking, along with the driveway which holds up to six full-size vehicles.
•Water System:
The lodge is supplied with artisan, spring-fed water, just as it has been since the home was built in 2007 and features an 80-gallon water heater. We’ve installed a filtration system to reduce naturally occurring iron. Water quality and flow are tested and safe. Please note: if multiple showers or appliances (washing machine, dishwasher) are used simultaneously, water flow may temporarily slow or stop. It typically resumes within an hour or less as the natural reservoir refills. This is part of rural, up-north living, and we stay on top of annual well maintenance to ensure the best experience possible.
•Natural Setting:
Leisure Lodge is nestled in a wooded, lakeside setting. You’ll enjoy the sounds of loons on the lake and the peaceful rhythm of nature. Expect falling leaves, seeds, and acorns on the deck and walkways. Wildlife and insects are part of the environment, though two elevated decks help minimize seasonal mosquitoes.
•Outdoor Recreation Nearby:
We’re located in a rural area, with nearby neighbors, less than a mile from public snowmobile and bike trails. You may occasionally hear the sounds of off-road vehicles, snowmobiles, or other outdoor recreation.
•Grocery & Essentials:
The nearest big box stores (delivery available) and grocery shopping are about a 10 to 15 mile drive into Brainerd/Baxter. A gas station and convenience store are approximately 9 miles away.
