Neighborhood highlights

If you manage to get bored of relaxing by the pool or taking in the beautiful views out over the picturesque countryside, we are a short five minute drive from the bustling market town of Eymet.

Eymet is one of the traditional bastide (or fortified) towns that are found throughout the Lot-et-Garonne and Dordogne departements. It is busy throughout the whole year, with plenty of delicious restaurants to choose from for lunch or dinner, and lots of bars and cafes to sit down and relax in under the collonades surrounding the beautiful market square. And its here you'll find a couple of boulangeries to buy all the croissants and pain au chocolat you will want to eat when staying at Le Boiret. Unlike some other towns in the area, Eymet is an all-year-round place where even if you are visiting in the Spring or Autumn there is still a buzz around town and options for drinks and dinner.

Every Thursday morning in Eymet there is a market where you can buy a range of local delicacies (this is foie gras country if that's your cup of tea), fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish and lots of tasty treats besides. And there is the chance for some souvenir shopping with several artisan traders like ceramicists in addition to the regular art shops you'll find open every day.

During the Summer, every Thursday evening there is a night market with a huge range of vendors selling different food options and everyone sits out under the skies in the square to dine together. You can also find night markets on other days of the week in local villages and towns like Duras, Lauzun and Le Sauvetat du Dropt.

The Dordogne is fantastic place for a holiday with a huge range of activities catering for all interests. We've enjoyed kayaking on the sleepy Dropt and Dordogne rivers, swimming and relaxing at the lac d'l'Escourou, visiting beautiful towns and castles, such as the Chateau de Beynac as well as visiting the huge range of pretty towns in the area and enjoying local markets (we think the Sunday market at Issigeac is the best).

As well having vines at the top of the road, we are situated within a 30 minutes drive to three different wine regions, each with their appellation d'origine controllée: Cotes de Duras, Bergerac and Monbazillac (with a beautiful chateau to visit there as well - you'll drive past it on the way from Bergerac airport). The rolling countryside surrounding us is filled with vines, so you know you will have plenty of choice for local specialities and options for wine tastings and tours. If you are in to your wines then St. Émilion is just one hour's drive towards Bordeaux. For something nearby, we like Vignes Des Angelys, situated just the other side of Eymet and producing excellent, reasonably priced Bergerac AOC whites and reds.
