A home away from home in a convenient and peaceful location. Enjoy the sunset from the deck, take a dip in the pool and make the most of the large lawn area in the private backyard.
Orange House can comfortably accommodate six guests, with an open-plan kitchen/dining area and bifold doors opening onto the deck and backyard.
The house is conveniently located, just a 15-minute walk or 2 minute drive to cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, train stations and bus/tram routes.
The space
BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS
Orange House has three bedrooms, two with a queen size bed and the third with two long single beds. Each bedroom also has a wardrobe. The master bedroom has an ensuite with a toilet and separate shower and bath, while the spacious main bathroom has a toilet and a walk in shower. The beds have cotton sheets in pale grey and mattress and pillow protectors are used on all beds.
KITCHEN AND DINING
The large open plan kitchen and dining area has an island bench with bar stools - perfect for mixing meal preparation with conversation. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas cooktop, dishwasher, and cooking and baking utensils. For coffee lovers, there is a stovetop espresso maker or glass plunger.
The 8-seater dining table looks out onto the deck and backyard. Enjoy a meal while watching the sun set behind the trees or open up the bifold doors to let the afternoon sun shine in. Connect your device to the bluetooth speaker to enjoy music or podcasts. Free WIFI is available throughout the house.
LIVING ROOM AND WORK SPACE
The living room has two leather couches and a couple of beanbags for extra lounging. The 50-inch TV has Netflix and YouTube built in (you'll need to log in with your own accounts). Alternatively, connect your laptop with the supplied HDMI cable to watch your favourite channels or bring along your own DVDs. For screen-free things to do, there's a selection of board games, puzzles, books, colour pencils and colouring books, not to mention the wonderful view of the bamboo, trees and pool from the couch.
Anyone needing to work from home will appreciate the dedicated work desk and ergonomic chair (also located in the living room). A perfect spot in front of the full length windows means you'll be able to regularly rest your eyes with a view of distant tree tops!
LAUNDRY
The laundry has a combined washing machine/dryer as well as a drying rack. You'll also find various handy appliances in the laundry cupboards including:
- Eco-friendly washing powder/liquid and cleaning products
- Washing basket and pegs
- Vacuum cleaners - full size and small handheld
- Broom and dustpan & broom
- Iron and ironing board
- Oil heater
- Electric fan
DECK AND BACKYARD
Orange House has a lovely big deck with a 6-seater table and cantilevered umbrella. Wide steps lead either to the pool or the expanse of lawn for some exercise or just to lounge and relax. Grab a folding lounge chair or two and set them up on the paved area near the pool to enjoy the view or watch the kids.
The salt water pool is maintained by us once or twice a week (depending on the season) and is heated using our rooftop solar panels in the sunnier months (from November to March). You are welcome to swim any time of the year, but it might be a bit chilly in the cooler months! The pool is fully fenced with a self-closing child-proof gate.
The garden shed has a collection of backyard games and balls, pool toys, outdoor folding chairs and picnic mats. For guests who like to cook with fresh ingredients, there is a small herb garden and a lemon tree.
SUSTAINABILITY
We are always looking to live lighter on the planet and have implemented the following at Orange House:
- Eco-friendly personal care and cleaning products wherever possible (healthier for us and our oceans)
- Certified organic products where possible
- Biodegradable compost and waste bin liners
- Recyclables and compostables separated from general waste using the three wheelie bin system provided by the council (minimising the waste going to landfill)
- Solar power to generate electricity for the pool and the house
- No herbicides or pesticides used in the garden (healthier for us and the garden/insects/birds)
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property including the garden shed (which has pool toys, backyard games, outdoor chairs and picnic mats).
The pool shed is locked (we store the pool and garden supplies in there).
Other things to note
REGULAR POOL AND GARDEN MAINTENANCE
Anaban (your host) will check and maintain the pool once or twice a week (depending on the season) to ensure it's clean and safe for use.
He'll access the property using the side gate during business hours and will communicate with you in advance to confirm days and times that are convenient for you. When Anaban is maintaining the pool, feel free to wave, have a chat or just ignore him - he won't mind either way!
Our gardener will mow and weed on a monthly basis. He will also access the property using the side gate. We'll notify you of his visit in advance.
We respect the privacy of guests and the scheduled maintenance visits are the minimum needed to keep the property in good condition.
CLEANING
For longer stay guests, we can recommend a house cleaning service to use during your stay, or guests can manage their own cleaning needs using the supplied equipment and products.
We appreciate our guests doing a quick tidy up before checking out, including:
- Running the dishwasher with any dirty dishes and utensils
- Putting leftover food, compost, recycling and general waste in the appropriate bins in the house
