Exceptional check-in experience

Recent guests gave the check-in process a 5-star rating.
Escape to your own private cottage retreat on beautiful Lake Martha, a peaceful non-motorized lake where the sounds of nature replace the noise of traffic, jet skis and boats. Spend your days kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, or simply relaxing by the water and enjoying the serene surroundings. Conveniently located just 50 miles north of Seattle, the cottage offers a quiet escape from the city while remaining close to many of the area's most popular attractions.

The space
Lake Martha Cottage is a cozy, standalone 200-square-foot studio cottage with peaceful garden views. Newly renovated and thoughtfully decorated, it features modern solid maple furnishings, a super-comfortable Sleep Number bed with a memory foam mattress topper, fluffy down-alternative pillows and comforter, and crisp linens with a European-style duvet cover.

For your convenience, the cottage is equipped with a coffee maker and mini refrigerator. Please note that we do not have a kitchen in our B&B. The private bathroom includes a shower, sink, and toilet.

Relax and unwind with complimentary Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime on the TV. A propane BBQ grill is located beside the cottage for your exclusive use during your stay.

Our main house, where we reside, is approximately 100 feet from the cottage. We respect our guests' privacy but are available should you need anything during your visit.

Guests can access beautiful Lake Martha via a private path with approximately 60 stairs. Most guests have no trouble with them, but we like to make sure visitors are aware in advance so they can determine whether the access is a good fit for their needs and comfort level.

Please note that our rescue Giant Schnauzer, Fritz, lives on the property. He is a large, energetic dog and may run up to greet you while barking when you first arrive. We understand this can feel intimidating, especially for guests who are not comfortable around dogs. If you'd prefer not to interact with him, simply let us know and we will keep him indoors as much as possible during your stay.

Guest access
You have your own private cottage with plenty of parking space and a fenced-in lawn area in front of cottage. Partial view of the lake right from the front deck of your cottage! Full access to the lake via a private path to grassy lakefront lawn, dock and Lake Martha. Plenty of room to keep your bikes, canoe or kayaks on the premises! Hiking trail nearby.

Fire pit with Adirondack chairs for cozy evenings around the fire. Guests are welcome to use our kayaks, canoe, inner tubes and pedal boat at no charge. We love our guests and want to share our beautiful surroundings with you!

***PLEASE NOTE: Guest access to the lake area is reached via a private staircase down a steep hill. There are approximately 60 stairs without hand rails. Please consider your physical fitness for the steep incline when you are making your reservation. The lake, and our property, is not wheelchair accessible. All activities on our property are at your own risk.

Other things to note
Lake Martha Cottage is a stand-alone cottage on our property. This is a shared living/work environment in that our glassblowing studio is across from the cottage and the main house. You are welcome to pop your head in and say hello to Jason while he is glassblowing when the studio door is open, bearing in mind that he is often livestreaming on YouTube and TikTok! We will have a sign on the Studio door when he is live and cannot interact with you.

As the listing describes, we do not have a full kitchen, however, we offer a nice breakfast bar with yogurt and a few snacks. The coffee machine will invite you to some fresh coffee in the mornings. Outside the cottage we have a BBQ for your use. We have a small knife, a spatula and tongs for the grill, a small cutting board, paper towels. We also have 2 wine glasses, and a wine/beer opener in the utensil drawer, salt & pepper. Small paper plates, napkins, and some paper coffee cups are in the drawer. We recommend you pick up what you need if you stop at a grocery store for you vacation! Closest grocery store: Safeway 3532 172nd St NE, Arlington. Right off of I-5 at the exit you take to get to Lake Martha Cottage!

We do not have built-in A/C in the cottage - most private homes in Washington do not have A/C. There are only a few days in the summer where the temperature reaches 85 or higher so most of the time just opening the windows and screen door of the cottage lets in a nice breeze from the lake and cools things down at night. You will also find a fan in the cottage should you need them. In extreme heat, should you find that you are uncomfortable, we are happy to bring over and temporarily install a portable A/C unit for your comfort.
