Some info has been automatically translated.
This rental is for guests with positive evaluations who agree to give their passport number as it is a requirement from the Grandson municipality. This lakeside chalet has direct access to the forest & Lake Neuchâtel. Ideal for anyone to spend quality time without modern distractions, perfect for anyone looking to write or do creative work. Enjoy the lakeside garden, swim in the lake & walk near the lake. It is within 15 min walking distance of Grandson & around a 30-minute drive from the Jura.

The space
This is a small, traditional chalet with direct access to the lake, with kitchen, living room, bathroom and small bedroom. Part of the boatshed was converted to create the small bedroom within the main chalet. The bed is only 140cm wide with a 160cm mattress. The living room has a sofa that can be used as a 1-person bed. The kitchen is very small with enough room for 2 people. There is a dedicated worktable and dining corner for 2 people. The bathroom has a shower but no tub. There is no door, only a curtain so noises can be heard in the other rooms. Only access to the chalet is available (not access to the two sheds on the property). My personal belongings are in the chalet so please leave them where they are.

Also you need to know that, the Grandson city council asks all visitors to give their passport or ID number. If you book, you will need to let me know what it is. Not my rule, I hope that you understand.

Guest access
You can access the living-room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom. The external shed and the ex-boat shed adjacent to the chalet are for private use. The access to the main door is through a series of steps. There are also 2 steps between the living area and the bedroom/bathroom. There are 2 car bays with cover, free off-street parking. The car port ground is covered by pebbles. You can reach the chalet by bus (stop name: Le Repuis) and that involves a short downhill walk in the forest (can be slippery). Alternatively, a 30-minute walk in a flat road, from the "Grandson" train station will get you there.

Other things to note
This chalet is in the middle of the forest and animals may come in, especially in winter. There is nothing much I can do about this, so if this is not for you, do not book this place. Example of animals that may come in, especially during winter: weasel (in the roof space, you may hear them run around), mice (anywhere, use my traps), and spiders (anywhere, mostly small body, long legs) use my insecticide. The beavers eat my trees but I have never seen them. Occasionally, foxes pass by. Swans and ducks may come and sun themselves on the landing. In spring, lots of ephemeral, non-biting flying bugs may make large swarms.

This chalet is near the train line, and you can hear trains. I don't think that they are very loud but if in doubt, don't book, I cannot do anything about that.

The property on the left of the chalet (when facing the lake) belongs to an institution. The staff and their friends can have barbecues there and they may make more noise than a family. If they do, just walk over and politely ask them to be quiet. If they make noise after 10 pm, call the police. They have the same rules about noise as anyone else, no more noise after 10pm.

Neighborhood highlights

This neighborhood is a series of small chalets. The strip of land between the train line and the lake is covered by a forest, and the chalets are amongst the forest. You may get forest animals on the property, and sometimes in the property. If you are not prepared to take this risk, please refrain from booking. Animals seen outside: beaver, fox, cats, birds, lizards. Animals who may come inside, especially in winter: spiders, mice, weasels (in the roof cavity).

Hi, I often travel for conferences for work and use Air B and B as a guest because research funds are tight. I occasionally act as a Air B and B host, when I am not using my place. I like scuba-diving, tennis and reading. I know how it feels to be in a strange place and to need a safe, friendly place to stay. So being a host is my contribution to that. As a guest, I will treat your place like I would treat my own, with respect and care.
