Enjoy a stay at the historic Klipsan Beach Life Saving Station, situated just over a block from the ocean. The restored Keeper's Quarters unit offers a private, well-equipped two bedroom retreat with space to cook, relax, and reconnect.
The large, fenced-in yard includes grills, a fire pit, dog run, and gazebo. Inside, you’ll find a gourmet kitchen and a thoughtfully curated selection of nautical movies, games, books, and puzzles for all ages.
The space
The Keeper’s Quarters is located within the original 1889 Life Saving Station barracks—the most historically immersive of the three units. It is a restored two-bedroom retreat that sleeps up to six guests, well suited for couples, families, or history lovers. The unit sits slightly elevated and is accessed by just a few steps leading to a newly built, gated entry deck—a quiet and secure spot to enjoy the fresh air or keep an eye on little ones or pets.
The sleeping layout includes a luxurious king bed, two twin beds in an adjoining room (perfect for families), and a sleeper sofa in the living area.
Warm period features include a restored fireplace with a modern electric insert and a handcrafted wood mantle made from an old growth tree once located on the property. Nautical touches and historic decor nod to the building’s roots, while large windows and original wood floors preserve the authentic, heritage feel.
The private deck opens onto a quiet backyard space—ideal for morning coffee or late-afternoon sun. Guests enjoy access to a full gourmet kitchen, and shared access to the fenced yard, picnic tables, fire pit, gazebo, and dog run.
Amenities include high-speed Wi‑Fi and a 4K smart TV, a large DVD collection (including family favorites), and a carefully curated digital movie library focused on ocean and nautical themes. Guests also have access to puzzles, unique board games, and a selection of books on marine life and coastal history. Tools for clam digging and sandcastle building are available, along with beach towels, boots, rain gear, and outdoor toys for all ages.
Educational materials on ocean science, regional ecology, and Station archival content enhance the stay, especially for homeschoolers and curious travelers.
The unit shares exterior access to the on-site laundry room, which also contains outdoor gear and yard games for guest use. The Keeper’s Quarters balances historic charm with modern convenience—a rich, cozy retreat that invites both reflection and adventure.

We are a small family who has been working for the last several years to restore a former U.S. Life Saving Station (which later became a Coast Guard Station). In order to support its renovation and share it with the community, we are eager to rent it out as a vacation home for all who want to enjoy its history, or even just a week at the beach.
