Private getaway

Guests say this area offers privacy.
Get away from it all when you stay under the stars. Jamaicaville is an off-grid 90 acre property, with panoramic views of the surrounding region as far as the eye can see.

This 3 bedroom eco-friendly escape is just 3 hours from Sydney, comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests.

15 minutes from Rylstone and 40 mins from Mudgee. Make the most of the breathtaking views, take to the nature trails or explore the local heritage towns, the best that the mid-west region has to offer is at your fingertips.

The space
Jamaicaville is a place for those who appreciate eco-friendly, self-sufficient, off-grid living. If you enjoy being in harmony with nature, privacy, seclusion, no neighbouring houses, the sound of birds chirping, rustling leaves in the wind, the sight of millions of stars on a cloudless night, the crackle of firewood in the fireplace on a cold winter night, then you are in the right place.

It is located at the highest point on Bylong Valley Way, right on the Great Dividing Range, enjoying magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, hills, and valley. Enjoy a twilight drink and bbq on the verandah while gazing at the changing colour of the sky. Night time is even better especially on a cloudless night when millions of stars will put on a spectacular light show.

The house is constructed from rammed earth, an ancient construction method, making it energy efficient. The walls help keep the house warm during winter and temperate during summer. It is completely off-grid and powered by solar panels/batteries hence electrical appliances used are chosen for their low power consumption.

House does not use electric heaters/air-conditioning as solar power/battery systems are not designed to cope with its high power consumption. Warmth is provided by a wood-burning fireplace. It can get very cold during winter adding to the excitement of your stay. Plenty of firewood will be provided during winter.

We also have 2 outdoor firepits where you can enjoy a campfire under the stars . Plenty of fallen tree branches scattered around the property for your campfire

Water is provided by nature in the form of rainwater stored in tanks. Water from taps inside the house are safe to drink. Hot water is provided by the good old sun and heated on the roof top heating panel and stored in the roof top hot water tank. Water will not be as efficiently heated during winter or cloudy days hence guests should be conscious of hot water consumption during night time and during winter. The fireplace helps add heat to the hot water system as it is a wetback system.

The rooms comfortably sleep 7 people (2 guests each in bedrooms 1 and 2, and 3 guests in bedroom 3). Extra guests up to 3 can sleep in the living room using the foldaway beds stored in the closets and also the couch which is big enough. Guests would need to set up the foldaway beds at night, linen are provided and are inside the closets. You would need to accurately indicate number of guests when booking so we can prepare the correct number of linen for your stay.

No wi-fi is provided. We want you to experience a completely off-grid stay. But if you must use your smartphone, signal is quite strong for Telstra and Optus phones.

The toilet is separate from the bathroom.

There is also a laundry room although no washer or dryer is available. Laundry soap is provided for handwashing. Guests can also go to the laundromat located in the neighbouring town of Kandos.

The property is located in a rural country area where insects and wildlife are present, on occasion, small animals or bugs can find its way inside especially if you don't close the doors or fly screens fast enough.

Guest access
Guests have freedom to explore the 90 acre property. Guests will have complete privacy and seclusion. Nearest neighbour's house is more than 2 kilometres away. Explore the various rock formations, hills, tracks inside the property.

Enjoy endless outdoor recreational opportunities with hectares of private land that are perfect for hiking, mountain biking, or trail bikes. You can be as active as you want, or simply soak up the beauty of the natural surroundings. Not to mention spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valley. Staying in Jamaicaville is an adventure which you will enjoy and cherish.

Jamaicaville backs into Crown Land which you can also explore.
