Experience the best of both worlds at Huias tent: surrounded by nature and right by the beach yet only a few minutes walk to the local shops, Cafe and Irish pub.

Enjoy meals on the covered deck as kaka swoop overhead and curious little moho pereru run around.

Take a soak in the outdoor bath surrounded by native bush with a view of the beach and gorgeous sunsets.

With a hot outdoor shower, kayaks to use and a comfortable queen bed you'll have all you need for an off-grid getaway.

The space
Our off-grid safari tent is the perfect spot for a relaxing solo/couples retreat. The space features a spacious lounge and bedroom, a huge covered deck and a utility shed which includes a sheltered cooking area, a toilet, a pantry and a hot outdoor shower.

Take our short board walk to the golden sands of Gooseberry Flat Beach. This lovely bay is perfect for swimming at high tide, or take down our kayaks to explore the bays.

Enjoy a hot outdoor bath and sunset surrounded by lush native bush and with native birds swooping above.

Take a 10 minute walk to Pah Beach and you'll find wifi, an Irish pub, a cafe, a small supermarket and a post shop.

Please note that the only thing we ask you to clean is the BBQ if you use it. There's a BBQ cleaning kit under the BBQ.

Gooseberry Flat is an idyllic bay on the more populated western side of the island. The surrounding bush is lush and tropical especially with the glassy blue water and golden sands of the beach just a few steps away.

The beach is tidal leaving warm pools of water in the sand to relax in when the tide is out. When the tide is full you'll find people swimming, walking the beach and kayaking around the bay.

A short walk to Pah Beach provides you with wifi, an Irish pub (with delicious pizza!), a cafe which serves some of the best food on the island, a small supermarket to stock up on essentials and a post office.

If you are into bird watching look out for Dotterell, oyster catchers and even Pateke on the beaches and around the tent you'll spot kaka, kereru, tui, piwakawaka, banded rail and kotare.

Hi Libby here :) I am 36 years old and live in rural Auckland with my husband and two boys. I do many things including being a mum, gardening, conservation volunterring, making art, yoga and I am working towards my Masters in Art Therapy. Huia's Tent is our beloved family holiday spot and I cant wait to help you have an amazing holiday too.
