Where you’ll be

Berea, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

The hill slopes down towards the Valley and beyond, with spectacular views in-land. The building was built on a larger property in the 1920s when the surrounding hills of Morningside were mostly livestock / cattle farms, and more recently the property was sub-divided and further developed from the 1980s. In even earlier times, this hillside was part of a well-known elephant migratory route that went past Jameson and Mitchell Parks towards the Bay, and until about the middle of last century lions and elephants were housed as attractions in Mitchell Park. The wider Morningside area is one of Durban’s oldest suburbs, and there are dozens of historic buildings, including Edwardian structures that are more than 100 years old.
