The space
‘Hillside Gardens no.2’ is a modern bachelor’s apartment located in the beautiful, green suburb of Morningside in Durban, KZN, close to Mitchell Park, Florida Road, and a Woolworths. The apartment is quite unique because you drive in and park right next to your unit, and step into your front door from your private garden area.

You can relax and read a book outside, or recline on your sofa to watch free Netflix on your smart TV to catch-up on the latest movies or series. There is free, very fast Wi-Fi internet inside and outside.

Your privacy is guaranteed!! It is a self-catering lock up and go unit, which is great for couples, tourists, one-man adventurers, and business travellers who would want to kick off their shoes and relax hassle free. It is an open plan unit with a modern kitchen, the bedroom has a queen-sized bed for 2 people sharing, an air-conditioner, double cupboard, a two-seater sofa (not for extra sleeping), flat screen TV with free Netflix, and a modern full bathroom (bath, free-standing shower, and basin) with Hans Grohe fittings.

The modern kitchen is well equipped with a kettle, coffee maker, countertop hob-oven, bar fridge, microwave, toaster, cutlery, crockery, and an extractor fan. There are more than enough cupboards in the kitchen to allow for ample packing space during your stay.

GUESTS
All guests staying must be advised in advance, including adults and/or children.
The property owner reserves the right to accept or decline any guest with insufficient positive reviews or an additional guest wishing to stay (this shall be done at the point of booking) and the owner(s) and/or associates must be advised of a second guest or child wishing to accompany any guest. This is at the discretion of the owner who shall consider all parties and make the best decision at the time to best suit all parties at the time of decision.
GUEST PRIVACY
When on the property, guests must keep themselves to their apartment, their private outside area, and must only use the parking allocated to their apartment. Strictly 1 car only. Other guests also have their own private spaces and parking bays allocated on the property.

SINGLE BOOKINGS AND REQUEST FOR VISITORS
If you book as a single guest and wish to bring in an additional person, this must be requested in writing together with the reason for the additional guest, we always prefer to familiarize ourselves with the guests on the property purely for safety reasons and at the discretion of the property owner(s), if approved in writing, only then may an additional guest be accepted. The owner | staff and/or associates and/or other of this property are obligated to accept an additional guest for the booking.

VISITORS
No visitors or their cars on the property please as per Airbnb’s global policy and our house rules.
This also keeps us all safe.

PARKING
Please DO NOT park or leave your car anywhere else other than this designated area for your flat as it would obstruct other guests elsewhere on the property who park on the designated areas of the driveway as well.

HOOTING
STRICTLY NO HOOTING POLICY.
We try keep a quiet environment to be enjoyed by all guests and neighbours alike.

INVERTER - CONSIDERATIONS
Some of our Airbnb properties do have a backup power system in place for load shedding, however, if applicable, it is for the whole property, therefore if we use too much power during Load Shedding, the system will automatically power down to protect the equipment. Furthermore, it will mean we will ALL be in darkness before the 2 hours ends as well. Therefore, we ask all our guests to be careful and use electricity sparingly during load shedding hours (i.e., Please don’t boil the kettle, or use the oven, stove, toaster or microwave, hair dryers, irons etc when load shedding is happening, otherwise the back-up system will fail us). It is fine for you to run your aircon and TV and charge your phone, have showers, use the lights etc.

AIRCONS AND/OR HEATING
We ask our guests that if you are not in the apartment, please ensure you turn off the air conditioner. If you are using your Aircon, please keep doors and windows closed.

SMOKING
We have a NO SMOKING policy on this property – PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SMOKING INDOORS AND ON THE PROPERTY at all times.
This is to accommodate all guests in their private allocated areas at any time who may not enjoy the small of smoke or have health issues that may be affected by smoke. This is to keep the peace throughout and try to accommodate everyone as best we can.

The hill slopes down towards Mitchell Park in the Valley about 100meters below. Before the property was sub-divided, the manor house above was one of a handful of properties on the leafy hillsides. In times past, this hillside in particular was a well-known elephant migratory route that went through Jameson Park on the right down into the Valley below towards the Bay, and until about the middle of last century lions and elephants were housed as attractions in Mitchell Park. The wider Morningside area is one of Durban’s oldest suburbs, and there are dozens of historic buildings, including Edwardian structures that are more than 100 years old.
