Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Hill Crest is a traditional stone-built cottage superbly located in a prime elevated site with spectacular panoramic views overlooking Cullen Bay in the Royal Burgh of Cullen. A charming and historic fishing village on the Moray Firth in Scotland, Cullen is beautifully positioned against the backdrop of 19th century railway viaducts. The two-story cottage sleeps 6 adults and makes for a fabulous dwelling for both couples and families looking to explore the rugged Moray Firth.

The space
Hill Crest is a spacious and comfortable 4-bedroom cottage with all the modern conveniences as well as having the benefits of a lovely private and enclosed patio garden with large decked area overlooking the bay.

The ground floor accommodation comprises a beautifully decorated lounge complete with feature fireplace and large screen TV for those cozy nights inside. There is a double bedroom that hosts a king size bed and luxurious en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower.

The dining room is a bright and spacious area thanks to the dual aspect windows allowing sweeping views across Cullen Bay to the hills of Caithness and Sutherland. Dolphins can often be spotted from this room breaching the waves! There is a large dining table which comfortably sits 6 people and a well-appointed sideboard to assist with hosting family gatherings and meals.

The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could possibly need for creating delicious home cooked meals. Appliances include oven, grill, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and Bosch Tassimo coffee maker. All plates, pans, dishes and cutlery are provided. There is a free-standing island table and stools which is a great spot for your morning coffee! A washing machine and tumble dryer are provided in the laundry room.

Upstairs the master king bedroom hosts stunning views across the bay thanks to the dual aspect windows. Quality linens are provided as standard and there is ample storage for all your holiday essentials. Listen to the calming sound of waves crashing below as you relax for a peaceful night’s sleep under the comfort of a luxurious duck-down duvet.

Two further single bedrooms are situated upstairs, both charmingly tucked away beneath sloping ceilings and offering tranquil views. A travel cot is also provided for our guests who have wee ones.

Completing the upstairs accommodation is the family bathroom which comprises a lovely bath, shower and heated towel rail which is great for warming up those fluffy towels after a day of sight-seeing!

Outside - Hill Crest has a fabulous cliff top location with a sheltered private patio garden in the back complete with picnic table. The paths are gravelled and lead across the garden to our decked area which has a lovely, covered timber gazebo with a table and bench seating. There are also 4 timber deck chairs ideal for sunbathing and dolphin watching in Cullen Bay. Our outside area is a truly special place and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Parking is available at the front of the cottage in this safe and quiet cul-de-sac.

Other things to note
The beautiful Moray Firth coast is a walker’s paradise and this cliff top cottage is only steps from a walking path which leads directly to the historic harbour. There are stunning coastal trails in both directions. Head west across the beautiful sandy beach passing the majestic Three Kings (sea stacks marking the graves of 3 Norse Kings) and the Cullen Links Golf Course which showcases the talented work of Old Tom Morris. Caves, sea arches and stacks are a common feature along this stretch of the coastal trail and you will soon arrive at Whale’s Mouth, a large natural cave, open at both ends of the cliff. Lying parallel to the cave is the magnificent Bow Fiddle Rock which is one of the most stunning natural rock formations in the UK. The huge sea arch of quartzite rock is the result of sea and weather erosion over millions of years and is a nesting place for an abundance of seabirds.

The coastal trail to the east will take you through more breathtaking scenery as you walk along the Salmon Bothy to Logie Head and down the Giant Steps. This area of coast was described by National Geographic as one of the world’s outstanding coastlines where you can often catch glimpses of dolphins, seals and a variety of seabirds. Continue east along a sparkling seascape to the secluded Sunnyside Beach and onto the ancient ruins of the 13th century-built Findlater Castle.

Other walks easily reached within the town include the Crannoch Woods, Bin Hill and Castle Hill where you can enjoy 360 panoramic views of Cullen and surrounding area. The sunsets from up here are truly magical!

If you feel like dining out during your stay, a short walk will bring you to a selection of bars, restaurants, cafes and takeaways, including one of the best fish and chip shops in Moray! Other highlights include the famous Cullen Ice Cream Shop and premium barista coffee served at the beach by Coffee at the Kings!

Visitors to this delightful area can enjoy a range of activities including boating, rowing, kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding, fishing and cycling. Cullen Sea School and Blue Coast Surf and Paddle are based in the village and offer a variety of activities and equipment for hire. If you’re looking for a more relaxed vibe have a saunter round Cullen’s many quirky boutique shops and antique galleries. Whatever you choose, make your holiday escape one to remember!
