Situated near to the original Hopewood Residence, lies ‘Arcadia’.

Self-contained with private entry from the garden - ‘Arcadia’ - perfect for a couples escape.

Set on the beautiful, private estate of one of Australia's most renowned landscape artists, this is truly a unique opportunity to explore the grounds of curated sculptures, artwork and rare botanicals.

If you would like to visit the private Hopewood Gallery of Tim Storrier while you are staying please contact Janet .

The space
Arcadia has been renovated in 2019 by the resident artist's wife, Janet, in the style of the main house. It has been decorated with their personal collection of original artwork and furniture.

Fully self-contained suite with private ensuite (clawfoot bath and separate shower), mini bar fridge, tea, coffee and toast making facilities are available within the room for your convenience.

Creature comforts include L'Occitane bath products, towels/bathrobes, heating for those chilly days (Nobo wall heaters, electric blankets on beds), high quality Sheridan bedlinen and goose down doonas.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to enjoy a friendly game of tennis. Prefer to relax? Pull up a seat on the wicker furniture on the original residence veranda and enjoy the sunshine. Or in the winter months, enjoy libations by the outdoor fireplace.

Staying at Hopewood offers an experience of curated rare Australian artwork, alongside the 11 acres of manicured gardens boasting unique sculptures, hidden follies and a mix of Australian and exotic botanicals.

Other things to note
Hopewood is very peaceful however we do have resident dogs, chickens, peacocks and peahens who wander the grounds. Please give them space as they are curious but shy. Unfortunately we do not allow other animal lovers to bring their own pets to the estate.

Professional photography on-site is subject to the venue hire fee, please contact us for further information.

Hopewood House – History at a glance
Considered a ‘Grand Estate’ of the Southern Highlands there is an immense history to this property that was first established in 1884 for Pastoralist Ben Osborne and his wife Lucy Throsby.
Between 1912-1929 the second owner of the estate; Lebbeus Horden - Grandson of Anthony Horden (founder of Anthony Horden & Sons – Once the largest department store in the world). Lebbeus expanded the rural activities of the estate, established the first elaborate formal parterre gardens.
Alterations to the main residence were carried out by Mr S.E. Sibley between 1929 and 1943.
In the Post war era the estate is significant for the philanthropic work of Leslie Owen Bailey who established the place as a Children’s Home, raising 86 children.
A series of grand expansions over the years saw the Hopewood Stables converted to the Pavilion building that stands today.
