Hemlock Hollow

The space
Hemlock Hollow is a large log Chalet! The garage has been converted into a small convenience store that also serves as my office. The garage is used for staff only. It contains laundry and cleaning supplies used to service many airbnb properties on the mountain. The driveway needs to remain clear so our team can access the garage for airbnb/cleaning supplies. Business hours are typically 9am-6:30pm, but you will not experience any substantial noise and your noise will not affect our operation. The airbnb and the garage have separate entrances.

We also operate a driveway snow removal business. There are 2 snow removal machines parked to the side of the building. These machines fuel up in front of the building.

*Your Noise is not an issue as long as it can't be heard outside/by the neighbours.*

》The Hot Tub is on the deck and is private/not shared. Only one of the jet pumps are currently working.

》You may notice the steam room at the cabin. It is not working and is not included in the amenities section of this listing or the price.

》Parking is across the street from the property. See your arrival instructions for details.

》The shed in the backyard is staff access only.

》There is a washer and dryer in the storage room next to the stairs that are not hooked up. There is no electrical or plumbing to hook them up. It is being stored for future use. We do have a washer and dryer in stock room attached to the store, but it is frequently used for cleaning our rags and dish cloths. We may or may not be able to give you access to it during your stay depending on business operations.

Guest access
Guests will have access to everything on the 1st and 2nd floors except the walk-in closet on the top floor beside the shower. The only areas on the ground floor that guests will not have access to the garage and the attached laundry/stock room. The shed in the backyard yard is also for staff only.

Other things to note
! Please be advised that there are no nearby emergency services in Hemlock Valley. The nearest Hospital to Hemlock Valley is Chilliwack General Hospital and it is a 1 hour and 6 minute drive in ideal conditions. If you have any illnesses that have the potential for you to need an ambulance or medical assistance, Hemlock Valley may not be a safe destination for you.

》There are lots of flies, mosquitoes and carpenter ants outside in the summer. We treat every property for ants in the summer, but you will likely see them around.

》If any exterior doors are left open, mice WILL come join you for your stay. For the same reason, please do not put garbage outside or on either of the decks.

》Slippery conditions in the winter season. The road crew clears and sands the roads 24 hours a day. It is a requirement to have chains with you from October 01 to April 31 just in case. 4x4 vehicles with snow tires are very unlikely to have any issues with the snow. Front-wheel drive vehicles with snow tires are ok in the snow with careful driving most of the time. Front-wheel drive vehicles with chains on the front are very effective in the snow as long as the snow is below your bumper. Rear-wheel vehicles are terrible in the snow. Especially electric rear-wheel drive vehicles because they are so heavy.

》!Do not park along the backside of the house during the winter- snow fall from Roof can cause significant damage to vehicles!

! The Road up is mostly gravel, it is moderately steep in some areas with hairpin turns. Heavy towing could be difficult if you are inexperienced. Any vehicle in good repair and with normal clearance can drive up and down the road without issue from May to October. Your vehicle will get dusty or muddy outside of the snow season. The road crew maintains the road regularly, but there are nasty pot holes during and after a heavy rain.

》Hemlock Valley is a Rural Mountain Village, it is not uncommon to see mice or evidence of mice. We perform weekly pest control.

○ Driveways 》We get lots of Snow from Nov-Apr. It can snow several feet in a day. The driveway can be cleared of snow in the morning and there could be some accumulation by the time you arrive in the evening. The best we can do is keep the driveway clear enough to park in, but you will certainly need snow tires. M+S tires with 4 a wheel drive vehicle is usually fine. It will be slippery and there is nothing that can be done about it. Salt is only effective for small amounts of ice and we are not allowed to use salt on gravel roads or driveways for environmental reasons. Sand is also not feasible because it would be covered in snow daily. You can get very cheap rubber and spike traction slip-ons for your footwear from most dollar stores.

○ Please remember that you're staying in a house owned by a family, not a hotel. Please treat the space with respect.

》 Very slippery conditions during winter. Traction foot ware is strongly advised. Salt, and sand are not effective in our conditions (we get too much snow and ice to keep up with).
