The space
Two minutes to the lake. A world away from everything.

Welcome to The Grenquist Farmhouse—a beautifully renovated lakeside retreat blending Scandinavian-inspired design with classic farmhouse charm. Located on quiet Grenquist Lake near Cumberland, Wisconsin, this is where busy lives slow down. Just 90 minutes from the Twin Cities, you'll find a different world: no traffic noise, no crowds, no distractions. Just the crackle of the fireplace, the shimmer of the lake, and all the time to simply be.

WHERE COZY MEETS PLAYFUL

Main Floor: Hygge Headquarters
Our main floor is designed for gathering, lingering, and savoring simple pleasures. The living room features an electric fireplace with white shiplap surround, oversized furniture perfect for sinking in with a book, and large windows framing Grenquist Lake views. In winter: stockings on the mantel, tree glowing, fireplace crackling, everyone off their phones.

The fully equipped kitchen has a coffee station stocked with Keurig, electric kettle, K-Cups, teas, and creamers (on us). The farmhouse dining table seats six—perfect for long breakfasts, jigsaw puzzles, or marathon Monopoly games.

The Loft: Where the Magic Happens
Upstairs offers a completely different vibe. The spacious loft features our ultimate game room:

Vintage arcade game
Game table with nested seating
Wall-mounted giant Connect 4 and Tic-Tac-Toe
Extensive board games, puzzles, and playing cards
Lake views
Space for everyone to spread out

This is where people disappear for hours. Where tournament brackets get serious. Where phones get forgotten.

Why the Two-Level Layout Works:

We love that the main floor offers that cozy, slow-down energy while the loft brings the fun. Some guests can read by the fire while others battle it out in Connect 4. Early risers can make coffee without waking the late sleepers. Everyone gets space, but you're still together.

SLEEP WELL, ACTUALLY

After a day of lake adventures or intense game tournaments, you'll sleep better than you have in months.

Primary Bedroom (Loft Level): King bed, private bathroom with tub/shower combo, 65" Smart TV. Separated from the main level, so early birds and night owls can coexist peacefully. Lake views from the window. This is your sanctuary.

Bedroom 2 (Main Level): Full bed, 40" Smart TV, quiet location away from the main living areas.

Bedroom 3 (Main Level): Full bed, 40" Smart TV, washer/dryer in closet.

Loft Bonus Sleeping: Twin-over-twin bunk bed (low-profile frame). Great for those who want to claim the loft as "their" space.

Additional Accommodations: Pack-n-play and high chair available.

Two Full Bathrooms: Both feature tub/shower combos. No waiting. No bathroom traffic jams. Just smooth mornings.

All beds come with quality linens. All bathrooms stocked with fresh towels. You just bring yourselves.

Maximum occupancy: 4 guests (county capacity regulation until spring 2026)

ENTERTAINMENT & CONNECTIVITY
Four Hiro Roku Smart TVs (50" living room, 65" primary bedroom, 40" each additional bedroom). Disney+/Hulu bundle included—just log into your Netflix, Amazon Prime, or other streaming services.

High-speed WiFi throughout. Remote work friendly.

Unplug Options: The fireplace doesn't require WiFi. The lake doesn't have notifications. Sometimes the best vacation is when you forget what day it is.

THE LAKE: 100 YARDS FROM YOUR DOOR

Grenquist Lake isn't one of Wisconsin's crowded resort lakes—it's a local gem where you'll actually find peace and quiet. And it's literally a two-minute walk from the front door. We counted.

Public Lake Access (100 Yards Away):
Maintained by Polk County, the public access point features:
- Dock for fishing or just dangling your feet
- Swimming raft (summer)
- Sandy bottom—no seaweed, no muck, just clean swimming
- Restrooms
- Even a merry-go-round (yes, really)
- Public boat launch for small watercraft part way around lake

What We Provide:
- 2 kayaks
- 1 paddleboard
- Life jackets
- Beach towels

What You Can Catch: Grenquist Lake offers fishing for pike, bass, and panfish. Early morning is magic—mist on the water, fish jumping, nobody else around.

Winter Lake Life: By December, locals are already ice fishing on Grenquist Lake. Want to try it? The State Ice Fishing Championships happen every February on Beaver Dam Lake, just 10 minutes away. Or just enjoy the winter beauty—there's something peaceful about a frozen lake that you can't quite capture in words.

CUMBERLAND: THE ISLAND CITY
Ten minutes away sits Cumberland—the "Island City" surrounded by lakes. Real small-town Wisconsin with character.

Explore:

Louis's Finer Meats: Local institution
Boutique shopping: Unique finds
Corner bars & lakefront bars: Friendly locals
Restaurants: Comfort food to great pizza
Nilssen's Grocery: Full-service

Nearby: Rice Lake (36 miles), Gandy Dancer Trail (30 minutes)
Winter: Snowmobile trails nearby, holiday charm downtown

THE FARMHOUSE
Metal siding gives Scandinavian-inspired style while wooden shakes honor the history. Inside: farmhouse integrity meets timeless, fresh design. Lake views from living room and loft—intentional. Watch sun sparkle in summer, snow fall in winter.

WHY THIS PLACE WORKS

For the Workaholics: You can actually disconnect here. No meetings. No Slack notifications buzzing. Just you, a book, and a fireplace. (But yes, the WiFi works great if you absolutely must check in.)

For the Planners: Everything's here. You don't need to pack board games, beach towels, or coffee. We've thought of it. Just bring groceries and yourselves.

For the Introverts: Quiet. Private. Peaceful. The neighbors exist but you'll barely notice. The lake is steps away but never crowded. You can go entire days without small talk if that's your thing.

For the Competitive Types: The game loft is calling. Connect 4 tournaments get surprisingly intense. The arcade game brings out everyone's inner gamer. Prepare for trash talk.

For the Nature Lovers: Lake at your doorstep. Kayaks ready to go. Fishing opportunities. Winter beauty. Summer swimming. Stars you forgot existed because of city light pollution.

For the Homebodies: You could spend an entire weekend without leaving the property and be completely content. Fireplace? Check. Comfy couch? Check. Full kitchen so you don't have to go out? Check. Everything you need is here.

WHY WE'RE HOSTING
We're a local real estate professional who fell in love with this property and its potential. This isn't a side hustle—it's a place we genuinely care about. We've designed it the way we'd want to stay: thoughtfully, comfortably, without the generic rental vibes. You won't find cookie-cutter decor. What you will find is a space that feels real, intentional, and ready for memories.
