Great location

Guests who stayed here in the past year loved the location.
Enjoy a stay at Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut for the tranquil surroundings of the Welsh Marches; the beautiful scenery; the clear, dark night skies free of light pollution; and the wealth of opportunities to get back in touch with the great outdoors.

The space
Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut provides fully self-contained accommodation in a small, private and picturesque garden located on the bank of Gladestry Brook. Facilities include:

• Two very comfortable beds with pocket-sprung mattresses that can be configured as a double (king size) bed for couples or as single beds for two individuals travelling together. As well as cotton sheets, duvets and bed spreads, additional blankets are available if required. A travel cot is also available free of charge for couples travelling with a child up to two years old. (Sorry, but we cannot accept bookings for any child over two, and parents must sign a declaration accepting full responsibility for the safety of their child while staying at Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut.)

• A well-equipped kitchenette with a microwave/convection combi oven; two induction hobs; large stainless steel sink with hot and cold running water; chopping boards, saucepans and a frying pan, and set of utensils for meal preparation; a kettle and toaster; and a full set of cutlery, crockery and glasses.

• Shower room with a powerful Aqualisa electric shower, large wash basin and toilet with soft-closing lid. (A bath towel and hand towel are provided for each guest. )

• An adjoining outdoor dining area with a table and four chairs on decking with a large cantilever parasol.

Guest access
• Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut guests can benefit from free off-street parking with space for two vehicles. (There are no public transport services to the village apart from taxis, so our guests tend to arrive on foot or by car.)

• Bus services are available at Kington (six miles away) with connections to Hereford, Knighton and Llandrindod Wells, all of which have mainline railway services.

• We’re sorry, but there are three steps up to the front door of the hut that may make it unsuitable for infirm/elderly guests or wheelchair users.

Neighborhood highlights

Gladestry (Welsh: Llanfair Llythynwg) is a pretty village nestled in the hills just over the border from England. The village lies on the Offa’s Dyke Path, at the other end of Hergest Ridge from the Marches town of Kington in Herefordshire. It provides an ideal base both for walkers who want to enjoy the trails that take them through our stunning local scenery and for exploring the rest of Wales and the Welsh Marches. The book town of Hay on Wye is just 20 minutes’ drive away, and the famous “black and white” Herefordshire villages, the city of Hereford itself, and the beautiful Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are all within easy travelling distance.
