Stay in a beautiful, fully furnished stargazer lotus belle tent. This is a unique and truly magical experience. Your spacious tent is placed in a very private setting in the meadows of Stavehøl.

The space
This is an opportunity to stay in a beautiful lotus belle tent amid the peace and quiet of Stavehøl. This hand-crafted canvas tent with two zippable doors, clear roof panels and mesh windows has a unique, bright airy atmosphere offering you all the comfort of a bedroom (full sized beds, mattresses, duvets) while camping in Stavehøl's meadow near woods and the Stavehøl waterfall. The belle tent has a diameter of 5 metres (16 feet), a useable standing room of 20 m² and can comfortably sleep 4.
The tent contains a queen sized double bed (140x200 cm), 2 single futon beds which make comfy chairs during the day and a chest to store your clothes and bedding. Outside is your own wooden table, benches and sun lounger with a fire ring for camp fires and barbecues.
You will have access to two shared (with 2 other luxury tents) bathrooms, kitchen and cosy lounge in our half timbered house which is a very short walk away.

Other features include WiFi internet access (in/near the house only). We welcome families with children and are happy to provide a high chair and baby cots. The garden features a playhouse and sandpit.

Guest access
You have separate access to your Stargazer and to 2 hectares (5 acres) of grounds, including lawn, meadow and woodland, including our own stream. You will be sharing the extensive grounds with ourselves, a holiday apartment in our half-timbered home and two other glamping tents, but you have your own seating area and fire ring in a very private meadow setting. There are many other spaces to enjoy, to hang out, to explore and build dens. We frequently see hares, deer, hedgehogs and abundant birdlife in the garden. Swallows nest around the house and nightingale are heard singing most nights until midsummers eve. The night sky is stunning and you are welcome to borrow binoculars.
The shared bathrooms, kitchen and lounge are a short walk away and have their own private access door.

Other things to note
The last kilometre to Stavehøl is along a gravel private road with a speed limit of 15 km/h that is accessible to all vehicles but may not be suitable for motorcycles or vehicles with 'low ground clearance' - if arriving in such a vehicle you will need to park about 400 metres away in a small parking area.
Until the summer of 2025, this belle tent was placed in a glade about 150 metres from the kitchen and bathroom amenities. This was a very private place but was not very sunny.
Earlier reviews on this profile refer to this former location.
For the summer of 2025 the tent has been moved to a completely new location at the top of Stavehøl's meadow. The pictures on the profile are of this new location which is about 75 metres from the amenities and a much sunnier spot!

Where you’ll be

Gudhjem, Denmark

We are located in arguably one of the most beautiful corners of Bornholm, just 50 metres from the Stavehøl waterfall in the rocky Kobbeå valley. The garden is bordered by the safe and sheltered cycle way connecting the iconic round church at Østerlars (1 km from the house) with Melsted's sandy beach and the picturesque fishing village of Gudhjem (both around 15 minutes by bike).

We are a German/English couple who moved to the beautiful island of Bornholm some 10 years ago. We are parents to 14 year-old twins Sammy and Jonas. Having spent life before children travelling the world for long distance hiking and to lounge in hot springs, we now enjoy more modest adventures on Bornholm. Phil is a naturalist, genealogist and amateur historian, whilst Katrin enjoys restoring the old house, writing and dabbling in painting.
