Neighborhood highlights
A little far from the hamlet of Fareaux to which we are attached, our house and the cottage which is adjoining it are part of an old farmhouse dating from the 19th century and which we are gradually renovating. This quiet place, preserved from urbanism, is surrounded by mountain agricultural activity.
The work on the cottage lasted a little over three years, as its old walls were in serious need of restoration. Our closest neighbors are family members (2 houses) and we share the outdoor spaces while each keeping their personal space. So your terrace is private. Access to outdoor games is shared with our children aged 12, 10 and 2. The great outdoors around us will allow your children to play and let off steam happily.
Placed in a green setting, our little corner of paradise invites calm and soothing.
In winter, the surrounding ski resorts will allow you to enjoy the joys of snow and skiing. Family resorts such as Ancelle, Chaillol, Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes, are less than 20 km away (20 min drive on average).
The small resort of Laye en Champsaur, the closest to us (4 km), will also welcome you for good times with family.
If you want to enjoy a larger ski area, the Orcières-Merlette resort will satisfy you. About 30 km from us, this large resort at the bottom of the Champsaur valley is accessible in 40 minutes.
For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, the Nordic site of Gap Bayard is accessible at the gates of the cottage. The Ancelle, Haut Champsaur and Valgaudemar sites are accessible in 20/30 minutes.
For those who do not ski, a multitude of activities are available to you: dog sledding, snowshoeing, fat biking are available on the Gap-Bayard site.
In summer, you can leave directly from the cottage towards the Col de Gleize, either to start the ascent of the Pic de Gleize then that of Aiguille where you can discover a magnificent view of the Champsaur; or to go back down to the village of Chaudun by the circular path; or to climb to the Pic de Greysinière towards Charance to overlook the Gapençais.
The joys of swimming are also easily accessible, whether at the Saint Bonnet or Serre-Ponçon lake, the largest lake in France on which you can sail or indulge in the joys of fishing. You can find the whole history of the Serre-Ponçon dam at the Muséoscope du Lac.
For fans of air sports, Tallard Airfield (30 minutes away) is recognized as the first European air leisure center; all air-related activities are practiced there.
