There is a travel cot available for you and a high chair too as well as baby bath, step, toilet seat and cutlery and crockery and other baby stuff to save you packing them. At the top of the stairs a baby gate is fitted which retracts when not needed.
We can accommodate an extra small child on a flop out mattress if needed but please message as an extra charge may apply.
After a day’s exploring, unwind in the large shower and enjoy our complimentary very locally made toiletries including fragrant shower steamers. Then wrap yourself in huge soft, fluffy towels before relaxing in the cottage where each room has individually controlled heat core radiators-lovely and warm!
Step through the French doors onto the walled patio and take in the views across the valley. Soak up the tranquility with a mug of morning coffee or an evening BBQ. Watch the sun set over the hills while toasting marshmallows and sip hot chocolate provided for you, under a sky full of stars. On a clear night, you might even spot the Milky Way or a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Say hello to our exuberant Cocker Spaniel Bonnie, who is always looking for her ball and our two cats Blue and Belle can be found wherever there are people to stroke them.
Stroll down our wild meadow where our 4 beautiful Angora goats live with 3 friendly pigs, hens and ducks. We welcome your help with feeding and caring for the animals so please just ask one of us. Our 2 pet lambs Frank and Fleur who are now actually sheep can be found with their friends in the field behind the cottage. Frank is the cuddliest sheep ever and they both, and all their friends love to be fed barley rings by hand!
Follow the path to the old oak tree where there is a swing and seating for admiring the views.
From the cottage door, there are walks in every direction. Wander through the woodland, down the bridleway to a pebbly beach by the shallow river where the water gushes over the rocks and dogs and children love to splash about. Wellies a definite but don’t worry as we have them on loan in many sizes. Or a mud free walk down the quiet country lane, to the sound of birdsong and the trickle of water, where you will find Wern Bridge, perfect for poo sticks and puddles full of tadpoles in spring.
The hedgerows are always full of wild flowers and scented honeysuckle, nuts and berries ready to pick in the autumn.
There are usually sheep, cows and horses to greet you along the way and when the lambs get to their teenage phase and are getting adventurous and brave, they can often escape into the lane.
Red Kites, buzzards and hawks are always seen soaring through the valley and the swallows; who return to us every year to nest in our log store; can be seen in the farmyard. Here, they raise their young and teach them to fly in the skies around us. If you are lucky in May, listen out for the cuckoo and spot the wagtails on the barn roof wagging their tails in the sunshine.
Hares are often running along the lane at the top of the valley and sometimes foxes can be seen in the fields around us.
At night there are always bats catching bugs and often in the silence of the valley, you will hear the owls hooting to each other in our trees.
Private parking for 2-3 cars is found across the lane, directly opposite the cottage and solar lights will guide you a few steps through your private entrance to the door.
We have another barn which can be locked to store bikes and a dry carport for motorbikes.

At Flying Piglets you can wander our meadow, immerse yourself in the tranquil surroundings and explore the enchanting wooded area. This idyllic setting is perfect for children and dogs, offering endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation. Whether enjoying a peaceful stroll or a run with your furry friend, The Old Milking Parlour is an unforgettable place to stay.
We are off the beaten track here at Flying Piglets. Our nearest shop is 3 miles away. It is a convenience store and petrol station and is at the entrance to the town of Llandovery which has a Co-op, post office and many independent, artisan shops, cafes and pubs.
You will be staying in a beautiful, tranquil , rural location on a peaceful country lane with very little traffic. A ten minute drive takes you into the town so a car is needed. We have had guests arrive by train at Llandovery station on The Heart of Wales line which is scenic railway which runs from Swansea to Shrewsbury. I have happily picked them up at the beginning of their stay and dropped them back, at the end.
There are buses from Llandovery to Brecon and other towns.
Other things to note
The cottage opens onto the farmyard and is fenced with gates and a wall . We have made it secure for our adventurous spaniel Bonnie but when we have guests, she will remain behind a gate which leads up steps to our farmhouse. There is a tall hedge that screens you during your stay, for privacy.
Our water comes from a spring which we ask you to filter using the jug for the kettle and coffee machine. You will find some bottled water in the fridge to drink or you can drink the water from the tap as long as you boil it first.
The cottage is approached by a quiet country single file lane with limited passing places. The ditches can be difficult to judge and often quite deep so be careful if you meet a car coming the other way. Best to let them reverse as they usually are familiar with the lanes!
There is EV fast chargers you need one, in the main car park in town. Turn into it in front of The Castle Hotel.
We are in a dark skies area and try to keep lighting to a minimum. Please ensure that you turn off the outside
lights at night when you are inside.
We love dogs and genuinely welcome them to The Old Milking Parlour. Some of our animals will be around the yard and they love to say hello. They are really used to visiting dogs and yours is welcome to wander if you are happy that they will get on! We just ask you to keep an eye on them for the first few times that they meet them!
Mobile phone reception can be very patchy around us so wi fi calling is very useful during your stay. We also have a landline you can use in an emergency.
The cottage has a quirky layout and has been renovated to keep the history and features of the Milking Parlour. There is a low beam leading from the hallway into the living area.
The stairs are called "Hit sand Miss which means that it is steep to make use of the space and has different width treads which just need a little extra care. Children find this very easy but it is a little more daunting it seems for some adults. There is a handrail on the outside and just needs a bit of getting used to! There is a little balcony at the top with a rail around it so perfectly safe and the perfect place for children to look down upon the adults!
The upstairs bedroom is in the eaves with sloping ceilings. The head height in the middle of the room is full height.
You are welcome to explore the smallholding but ask that children are accompanied to cross the lane. The pigs currently have an electric fence around them as they have been prone to exploring on their own. It does have quite a strong current running through it so please take care.
Beyond the pig run we have a fast flowing stream with little waterfalls running down the hill. At the top at the edge of our little fairy woodland, the drop down to the water is unfenced, sheer and quite steep.
The floors in the cottage are laminate with rugs so bring slippers or use the ones we provide as we ask no shoes to be worn indoors. We are set in farmland and it is often muddy.
