Hemmet, Denmark
The cottage is located in Bork Hytteby, a cozy cottage area with several small playgrounds as well as a small dinghy harbor belonging to Bork Hytteby.
You have free access to our private bikes (2 camping bikes, 1 small girl bike and 1 large cargo bike with harnesses for 2 children). By bike you can get around in nature around the summerhouse or a trip to the harbor.
A 10-minute walk from the house is Bork Viking Port. It's really interesting to visit and experience how the Vikings lived in Denmark.
Close to Fjordly, about 1.7 km from the house, is Bork Legeland, a playground with both indoor and outdoor activities. You can come in from 10 am, go home along the way, and come back the same day on the bracelets you get. It is possible to bring food and drink yourself if you do not want to buy food in their cafe.
2 km from the house (towards Bork Havn) there is a nice beach where it is also possible to swim, kitesurf, paddle, etc.
2.5 km from Fjordly is the cozy Bork Havn, where there are 2-3 restaurants, as well as the opportunity to buy an ice cream/beer while the children play on the playground.
We can recommend you to buy fish in Den Lille Fiskehus, the small white house by the harbor. It has both freshly caught and smoked fish.
At Bork Havn you will also find the nearest grocery store. It's not cheap to shop there, but it's in bike/walking distance from Fjordly. (We are concerned that you are acting in Nr. instead. Nebel 7 km from the summerhouse, where there are several discount shops - including Netto and Coop 365, if you have to shop big.)
If you continue past Bork Havn, there are bike paths all the way to Skaven. Along the way, there are exercise tools in nature, as well as small beaches, where there are often no other or only a few bathers.
If you have to experience other things, we recommend using a car, as the summerhouse is a bit away from the larger cities with several attractions:
In Nr Nebel, 7 km from Fjordly, you can visit the swimming pool for free. See more at the fridge in the summerhouse when you arrive.
In Nr Nebel you will also find several shopping options, including several discount stores.
Just outside Nr Nebel, you can rent rail bikes and take a ride along the train tracks to Nymindegab. (Must be booked online).
There is also a small local zoo outside Nr Nebel called Engholm.
Seawest is also worth a visit. Seawest is a large water park, where there is also both indoor playground and restaurants. Seawest is about 10 minutes by car from the house.
WOW park is an outdoor climbing park, where you get all the way up without the treetops. It's a popular place if you don't suffer from a fear of heights. Wow-park is about 30 minutes from Fjordly. You can bring your own packed lunches if you prefer.
If you take the trip to Varde about 40 minutes from Fjordly, you can do free bowls (exl rental of shoes) and use the water park in the same place - Sportium.
If you want to drive a little further, about 45 minutes we would definitely recommend you to visit Billund, where there is an opportunity for both activities inside and out:
- Legoland
- Lego House (indoor)
- Lalandia (where you can use all day. By the way, you can eat really well at their buffet restaurant Il Bambino. Remember to book a table)
Givskud Lion Park is worth a visit if it doesn't rain. It takes about 1 hour by car. In the Lion Park you can drive around in your own car on safari, where you can meet lions, giraffes, zebras, bisons, nandues, studs, rhinos as well as many other animals.
There are large playgrounds, trampolines, restaurants, walking safaris, visits with their dinosaurs, where you can also dig for “teeth” in their sandboxes, and try to chop bones out of limestone.
Feel free to drop off all day as you can easily use the whole day there. We LOVE Givskud Lion Park.
Otherwise, we can recommend you to drive past Hvide Sande and Søndervig, both cities by the water. There are cafes and restaurants. Outside Søndervig you will find Denmark's newest Lalandia, where, like Lalandia in Billund, there is both a water park and Legeland.
About 10 km from Søndervig is the small commercial town of Ringkøbing, which is really ideal for shopping and restaurant visits. We are happy to eat in Italy ourselves.
In Ringkøbing you can also swim for free in Ringkøbing swimming pool. (Read more on the fridge in Fjordly).
Lastly, I would like to mention the museum Tirpitz, which several of our guests have visited. The museum is about 45 minutes from Fjordly. Search the internet a little more about what you can see in Tirpitz.
