Our studio flat is at the foot of Table Mountain close to hiking trails, 8km to the nearest beach and 4km from the City Centre. It is open plan, has a queen bed (182cm*152cm), a well-equipped kitchen, private garden with a barbecue, a private entrance, secure off-street parking, Wi-Fi, Netflix, and an alarm system. Guests may share our solar-heated swimming pool. (It currently has some peeling in the lining. It will be repaired over winter but is still clean and refreshing).

The space
Helen and Richard welcome you to Etafileni Studio Flat, an open plan self-catering fully furnished studio flat for a maximum of 2 people sharing. The flat nestles at the foot of Table Mountain in the City Bowl of Cape Town: a home away from home ideal for business and leisure. It is 22 m² (240 ft ²). Our ample storage space and fully equipped kitchen make Etafileni suitable also for longer stays.

We do not allow pets or smoking in the flatlet (but do have a smoking area outside). The flat is not suitable for children; however, we may make exceptions for very young babies and a single older child. (Please contact us for more details).

Rates shown are for the flatlet (not per person) and vary seasonally. We have lowered our daily rate in lieu of our once-per-booking cleaning fee. This leads to an incremental discount for each extra day you stay. The price of the flat includes servicing once a week.

We are conveniently and centrally located close to: MyCiti public transport (200m), Cape Town City Centre (4 km), the V&A Waterfront (7 km), the Camps Bay and Clifton beaches (8 km), the Cape Town International Convention Centre (5 km), the University of Cape Town (UCT) (10 km) and Cape Town International airport (15 km). (Being located in the City Centre tends to reduce traffic delays – one is mostly travelling against the traffic). From our property, we have views of Table Mountain, Lion's Head, Devil's Peak, the City Bowl and the Harbour.

We offer fibre internet (50 Mbps up and down) and access to business facilities including a colour printer. (We recover costs for printing.) The flat has a comfortable and private garden with plant and bird life, a beautiful swinging chair, a view of Table Mountain and a barbecue. The entrance to the flat is private. Guests are invited to share our swimming pool (with our family). The swimming pool is solar heated. (It currently has some peeling in the lining. It will be repaired over winter but is still clean and refreshing).

We offer security including a large safe (sizeable enough for laptop and cameras), an alarm with armed response and off-street parking (protected by the electric fencing).

The flat does not have laundry facilities: but we are mostly able to offer our guests the use of our laundry facilities and washing line. There are laundromats nearby.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the flat and the flat garden. The flat has a private entrance, independent of the house. There is a parking bay on the property for guests, and a possible second bay if necessary.

The swimming pool is a shared facility with our family (although we mostly keep out of the way when guests want to swim).

Other things to note
To increase your comfort and reduce your packing, the flat offers: towels, bedding, some basics such as coffee, tea and condiments, a hair dryer, an umbrella, a cooler bag, beach umbrella, beach towels and ice blocks for your picnic on the beach, reading books, maps and pamphlets.

For entertainment, we offer streaming (e.g. Netflix & YouTube) through a Roku Ultra Streamer. You can also cast your own streaming content. We have an extensive selection of DVDs including a selection of local South African films. Our HDTV offers HDMI connectivity.

Our neighbourhood of Highlands Estate, Vredehoek has the immediate advantage of being close to Table Mountain. A short 50m walk will lead you into the foothills of the mountain from where you can mountain bike or hike, including right to the top of Table Mountain. I am a regular hiker and am always happy to have guests accompany me on my walks in the mountain. We do not offer meals, but there are many interesting restaurants to choose from within walking distance and the nearest shops are 200m away.

We opened the doors of our lovingly renovated flat in 2005. Over the years I have come to understand the kind of things guests need in order to make their stay more comfortable and enjoyable.
