Tasmanian Design House was designed with sustainability, the environment, and comfort in mind. This unique architect-designed home features two light-filled bedrooms, each with their own beautifully-appointed bathroom. Nestled in bushland, the site-specific design takes full advantage of the morning sun and offers incredible views of the water and evening skies.

The space
The Tasmanian Design House sits beautifully in the landscape, having been architecturally-designed for the property, providing impressive water views of King George Sound and the surrounding bushland.

The Design house features two light-filled bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. Provided in each bedroom are French linen sheets, Aesop products, and magnificent white fluffy towels for your use.

The well-appointed kitchen is central to the house, featuring Smeg appliances and all the cooking utensils you could desire. The incredible custom cabinetry is constructed from Tasmanian Oak and Celery Top Pine and crafted by master cabinetmaker Bernd Farasin from Bruny Island.

To start your day, you will be provided with a complementary breakfast basket of eggs, cereals, bread, butter, jam, and juice. And, of course, coffee and tea.

The large deck space is perfect for morning coffee or watching the sun go down over the water. Spend the evening on the large, cushion-filled leather sofa with wine and a book or indulge in a little screen time with some Netflix on the 42-inch 3D television.

The Design House is approximately 45 minutes from Hobart International Airport and 30 minutes from Port Arthur. The property is located on the Forestier Peninsula, the gateway to the wild natural beauty of the Tasman Peninsula.

You may wish to spend all your time at the house but the Design House is the perfect base for exploring local wineries, the Tasman National Park, and the world-heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site.

Guest access
You will have exclusive access to the entire property.

We are unable to host events or parties. Please note that only guests who are booked to stay are permitted on the property.

Other things to note
If arriving at night or on dusk, please take extra care when driving on the road approaching the house. You will see many animals on the road so please drive slowly for your sake and theirs.

The house is self-sufficient for water and sewerage. The supply is pure rainwater, stored in tanks and is precious! The toilet system use a septic tank and can only process toilet paper and human waste; nothing else must be flushed away.

Our horses are generally visible from the house. Please do not feed the horses without consulting us first.

We first used Airbnb when we travelled to Los Angeles in 2009 and it was so fantastic we were hooked! We couldn't believe how amazing each place was. Now, as hosts, we try to meet the same high bar that our first hosts set for us - warm, friendly, and plenty of info about the area. We still use Airbnb as guests when we travel and wouldn't have it any other way. We love meeting people and sharing stories over wine, food, or cups of tea!
