The space
This fully renovated lakefront home offers comfort, character, and room to relax—perfect for family getaways, couples' retreats, or executive stays. Set on 60 peaceful acres with a private 6-acre lake, the house blends modern upgrades with touches of its original charm—including Cal’s iconic red tile shower and cozy fireplace.
Enjoy an open-concept layout with a spacious, fully stocked kitchen, large island, and dining area that flows into the cozy living room—all with lake views. Step straight onto the covered porch from the living room, where you’ll find comfortable seating, a gas grill, and a fire pit—ideal for morning coffee or unwinding at sunset.

Master suite with king bed, walk-in closet, spa-like bathroom with soaking tub & walk-in shower
Second bedroom with full bed
Laundry room and original red tile shower
Game room with space to spread out and relax *not heated or cooled as this was the old garage turned game room

You’re just a few miles from town, restaurants, a golf course, and the World Shooting and Recreational Complex. Bring your fishing pole, dip your feet in the water from the dock, or take a swim in the lake to truly unwind. (Please note: guests swim at their own risk.)
We’ve thoughtfully designed this space to be peaceful, spacious, and full of charm—making it easy to slow down, reconnect, and make lasting memories.
Guest access
Guests have full access to the entire home and the yard surrounding it, including the private dock and seasonal paddle boat. You're also welcome to walk across the dam to the back pond—perfect for bass fishing or enjoying a peaceful picnic at one of the two picnic tables provided.
Please note: While the home and yard are fully private, you will share the main driveway and access to the back pond with a few other guests who may be staying at our two RV/camper sites or at our nearby short-term rental, The Farmstead.
Arrival Directions:
You'll turn at the white fence and follow the lane past the RV/camper spots. At the Y, veer left—this leads you onto the blacktop driveway marked "Private for Guests Only" (which means you!).

This home is in the country, surrounded by a private lake, woods, and grain fields—so nature is part of the experience! In warmer months especially, you may encounter bugs like mosquitos, moths, ladybugs, spiders, wasps, gnats, and even mice.
We maintain a strict pest control routine, but please understand that some critters may occasionally find their way inside.

Hi there! Thank you for looking at our house! My husband and I take great pride in our properties! We have been landlords for over 10 years with 4 other houses and decided becoming hosts on AirBnB would be an amazing new adventure! These properties have awesome features and we have a lot in store for them! If you book with us, we hope you keep an eye out to return as we have so much we want to add!
Marissa is a quiet small town with a couple restaurants and gas stations but less than 15 minutes to a small city (Sparta, IL) where you can do shopping or enjoy dinner at the local restaurants. We are also close to the World Shooting Complex and Recreation. Throughout the area there are different wineries and parks or if you want to travel a bit further we are about 30 minutes from Belleville, IL or 60 minutes from St. Louis, MO. Something in particular you are looking to do, send me a message and I will be happy to answer any questions! We hope you decide to book with us and let our house give you the relaxation you deserve!
