Charming stone house, typical of Périgord, at the top of a hill with superb views of the hills opposite. You will find the calm to recharge, the encounter with nature and the opportunity to spend a peaceful holiday.
Whatever the season of your holiday, whether in summer, mid-season or winter, there is always something to see, visit or discover. The Dordogne pushes back treasures and joys; culture or sport, everything is there. And the Lot !
The space
2-star furnished tourist accommodation.
Since August 2025: the house has fiber, very high speed internet!
According to the archives and the history of the area, this house is about 250 years old. It was the house of the sharecroppers who worked for the bourgeois who lived next door. Formerly this house was actually 2 buildings, the part with the bedrooms was the grain silo.
I completely renovated the house between 2005 and 2006, and kept the original walls, as well as some beams that are now visible in the kitchen and mezzanine. The stone sink is also original.
There is WiFi in the house, as well as a Smart TV with built-in ChromeCast. You'll find all your favorite channels, radio stations and apps of your choice. All you have to do is log in. And if an app is missing, you can cast it from your phone, tablet or laptop.
There is a desk area in the mezzanine bedroom. Ideal for remote work, writing a book, or any other activity requiring a desk area with a very high-speed internet connection.
There are some board games, boxes full of Playmobiles and Lego Friends, as well as some books for children, small and large.
The house has central floor heating and a wood stove. No worries for your mid-season and winter stays. On the contrary, there's nothing like savoring Périgord gastronomy near a wood fire.
A Weber BBQ is available for grilling.
Rental prices include the provision of bed linens, bath towels and tea towels.
If you are more than 4 people, my brother also has a rental accommodation 20 meters from my house, his accommodation is also on this platform, even common, and the name is Old Tobacco Dryer restored, with a capacity of 4 people.
I created a guide to give some ideas for outings whether with friends, as a couple or with family. Feel free to check it out for ideas.
Guest access
The entire home is available. The washing machine and a small extra fridge are in the cottage next to the house, at the end of the terrace.
The pool is a steel above ground tube pool, placed in June 2021. It's a private pool, just for you.
My goal is to offer a vacation with a pool for an affordable budget, recharge and rest in Périgord without breaking the bank. That's why I have set up a participatory system, where you as tenants will keep an eye on the pool and the proper functioning of the pool. It's simple, the filtration pump has an automatic program system, it's set to work independently. All you need to do is run through the robot vacuum cleaner that is available to clean the floor in the pool, and put the summer tarp back on in the evening to keep the water at the right temperature.
I would also be very grateful if you could water the plants in hot weather :-).
The garden of more than 2000m2 is just for you. You will find in the chalet petanque balls, snowshoes and other games to play outside.
The garden is not fenced.
Other things to note
The Dordogne is full of treasures and joys; castles, caves, museums, prehistoric and/or medieval sites, nature and sports courses, everything is there.
The house is also at the gates of Lot (Quercy) and Lot et Garonne, where there are many admirable sites to visit as well.
Various magnificent bastides are in the vicinity, such as those Villefranche du Périgord, Monpazier, Villeréal.
It should be noted that Villefranche du Périgord is the capital of Châtaigne.
Sarlat-L- Canéda is 30km away, Belvès 15km away, Castelnaud and Beynac Castles about 20km away.
For swimming (other than the pool) and canoeing, the closest place to the Dordogne is 20km away, in Siorac en Périgord. Otherwise, in Cénac, Vitrac, etc, it is quite possible to swim and rent canoes/kayaks.
As for prehistory, there are just as many sites to visit, such as Les Eyzies, Lascaux in Montignac, La Roque Saint Christophe, to name a few.
As for the period of the Middle Ages, there is something to do: The Valley of the 5 castles! Admirable from a canoe on the Dordogne.
For fans of raptors: Le Château des Milandes! Beautiful castle renovated by Josephine Baker, where she lived with her adopted children; you can visit it and relive its history, and icing on the cake, enjoy a splendid show of raptors!
There are many mountain bike routes and hikes in the surroundings of Prats du Périgord, to enjoy the Perigord nature. It is possible to rent mountain bikes in the surroundings, or just to walk in the woods, the surroundings are full of hiking trails.
Autumn is the season of nuts, chestnuts, mushrooms, fire and red colors in the forests, but also the season of deer slabs. Come and listen to the bramer deer after dark.
