The Copper Hide is a unique escape at Arth Valley Retreat on the west coast of Wales. This old dairy milking parlour was converted into accommodation some years ago but has recently (2024) benefited from a complete makeover. With a roll top bath, mezzanine bed with large star gazing window and Woodburning stove.
During your stay you’ll be free to roam our piece of the valley that flows down to a river with waterfalls. Only a few minutes from the sea.
Come and enjoy this romantic spot in nature.
The space
The Copper Hide has been renovated from an old milking parlour, we've tried to maintain the original rustic charm whilst making it a warm and beautiful space to relax in. Rustic is what it is though, if you’re looking for a 5* hotel, please don’t book with us.
Inside the Hide you'll find everything you need for a romantic, countryside getaway. The kitchen is equipped with kettle, toaster, Air Fryer/grill, electric hob, coffee maker and fridge freezer. It's stocked with essentials like tea, sugar, salt and oil as well as all the crockery and utensils you'll need.
The king size bed is wonderfully cosy hidden away on the mezzanine floor, with a large window in the ceiling so you can look at the stars. There's a large cuddle seat in the living space, perfect for cuddling up on to watch the large screen TV or cosy up in front of the woodburning stove. You'll also find a dressing table with mirror, that could double as a work space using the high speed Internet. There's a folding dinning table and chairs, hidden away until you need them. The freestanding copper bath is perfect for relaxing in after a day of exploring the local area or hiking along the coastal path, there's bubble bath and body wash for your use too along with the fluffy white towels we provide.
You’ll also have your own enclosed garden area with fire pit and wood fired oven with plenty of space to prepare food. This area is the perfect private sun trap.
Guest access
The Copper Hide and it's adjacent fenced off garden is exclusively yours. It's situated on our 16 acre small holding, a little way down the track from our own property. It's not overlooked by any neighbouring properties, there is a blue cottage thats a holiday let near to it, sharing the yard for parking. During your stay you're free to roam our farmland and visit our friendly pet mini goats, sheep and chickens. At the bottom of our land we have around an acre of ancient woodland with a river a waterfalls for you to enjoy.
Other things to note
Having only lived here a couple of years we're still working very hard to build our dream business - a small, eco friendly retreat with its own private venue and a range of affordable and accessible accommodation to enable as many people as possible to make memories in this stunning part of the world. We ensure our working hours are between 9am and 6pm so we don't disturb you during your stay. Please bare in mind that you might see some of our building works mid way through, so take care when exploring. Also we like to keep our farm a little on the wilder side, much of our hedges and grassland is left for nature, we only mow and hedge cut where we have to and let the sheep and nature take care of the rest.
