Listing highlights
In rural Wrenshall, near Duluth
A working farm about 19 miles south of Duluth, with Jay Cooke State Park and local trails nearby
A bunkhouse built into a chicken coop
One-third of the bunkhouse is a chicken coop separated by glass, so you fall asleep watching hens roost
An experience guests keep coming back for
Guests call it a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with many returning to collect eggs and help with chores
Bunk with the Birds -mostly. Sleep in sight of the chickens in this tiny, rustic bunk house. 1/3 of the structure is for the chickens, the other 2/3 is for you - separated by glass. It's a chicken aquarium :)
The Coop has a twin and a full-sized mattress. It is Bring Your Own Bedding so come with sheets and/or sleeping bag and pillows. There is a solar charger to charge small devices and run the lamp and fan. The structure is seasonally heated with a Porta Potty near-by, bring a flashlight!
The space
Locally Laid Egg Company is a real working farm. The COOP is a small bunkhouse that sleeps 3 comfortably or two adults and two small children. It has one bunk bed with full and twin mattresses.
This is BYO bedding so don't forget your sheets, blankets and pillows along with a flashlight for those night trips to the Porta Potty.
This immersive experiential structure is part living space, part chicken coop.
A large window divides the sections giving guests a “Peep Show."
This “Choose Your Own Adventure” stay can include:
• Tending pasture-raised poultry
• Gathering eggs
• Opening the coops in the morning
• Putting chickens to bed at night
• Potentially wash/pack eggs (given the day)
Chores are over in a flash, so there's plenty of time for hiking, biking, and skiing local trails, Jay Cooke State Park & near-by Duluth.
We offer at-cost gym passes $6 to the nearby Carlton Wellness and Fitness. There you can workout, enjoy a sauna and, of course, shower. (It's a lovely facility)
Also on site:
-outdoor rinsing station
- handwashing station
- Picnic Table
- fire pit
- some fire wood
- portapotty
Guest access
Located about 19 miles south of Duluth, MN, our working farm (Locally Laid and Farm Lola) is 45 acres and has over 400 chickens seasonally from mid-April to mid-October.
We also operate a PYO berry farm! It's the first US-based commercial honeyberry farm with a 10-acre honeyberry orchard that also includes strawberries and blueberries.
Leashed dogs are welcomed (there's a modest pet fee) October through mid-April, but kindly let us know.
