The cabin is modeled after traditional European lodges and sits atop a hill on the smooth-graveled Comfort Road. Remote enough to be a true retreat, it is still just 20 minutes away from Downtown Ithaca Commons and shopping. Ithaca College is a short 10-12 minute drive and Cornell is within easy driving distance as well. Ithaca airport is 30 minutes away. Natural attractions are Jennings Pond, Buttermilk Falls, and Robert H Treman State Park with its amazing natural swimming hole and falls. The stretch of Comfort road in front of the chalet is part of the Finger Lakes trail system and leads to a trail head that goes into Danby State Forest.
Guest access
The full cabin is yours to use. A closet in the upstairs master bedroom is locked and used for cleaning supplies.
You have full use of the courtyard and the Yoga Studio as well.
The garage and attached apartment is not for guest use.
Other things to note
Directions: From Ithaca, take NY-96B S/Danby Rd to Comfort Rd in Danby. Turn Right on to Comfort and the Cabin will be on your right. Note that the paved Comfort road turns into a gravel road about a mile from the cabin. The drive is 17-20 minutes.
From Rt. 17, turn off at Owego Exit 64 to NY-96B N/Owego Rd. Follow Owego Rd and turn left on Bald Hill Rd. Turn right on Leib road for a half mile and turn left onto Comfort road for a mile.
Important: A 4x4 vehicle is recommended during the Winter months. The road is plowed regularly however.
Parking for up to four cars is available. Please do not block the garage door and do not park on Comfort Road. Parking next to the garbage receptacle is permitted except for Monday mornings. Visitors may park behind the garage building as well.
Note: The cabin is surrounded by nature and as a result nature (insects and mice) may occasionally get inside. This is part of country living. We perform regular maintenance to minimize the occurrence.
