Comfortable, private apartment in a Mid-Century Modern house with stunning views of Mt. Monadnock and farm. 1 Bedroom with Queen Bed w/AC sleeps 2. NOTE: $50 fee for each bed after main bed.

NOTE: We have internet TV, but no cable. So please remember to bring your sign in information for Netflix and Amazon.

The space
Stunning view of Mt Monadnock, one of the most climbed mountains in the world. Enjoy your privacy at your own country getaway. Spacious apartment in the lower floor of our house with separate bedroom containing queen bed and double futon, large bath, large living/dining room with queen fold-out couch and well equipped kitchenette. Located only 10 minutes from downtown Peterborough (Shopping, art galleries, antique stores, parks..) Hancock, Harrisville and Dublin.
GREAT restaurants, playground, music, movie theatre, churches & More). 20 minute drive to local Ski Mountains, 5 minutes from winter trails for snowmobiling, X-country Skiing, walking and snowshoeing.

My mother's family settled Windy Row in the early 1800s and this property was owned by her uncle, Homer Bigelow. Homer's brick house burned down in 1938 - just before the famed 1938 Hurricane that wiped out all of the trees and many buildings here in Peterborough and the surrounding towns. The foundation can still be seen right outside the windows of the apartment you will be in. Homer was a Boston based artist and this was his retreat. He converted the dairy barn (now attached to our house) to be his art studio and it is mostly untouched since he died in the 1950's. We now use it as our living room, my photo studio and a private event rental spot (See Cold Comfort Farm / Cold Comfort Farm House Concerts on FB) for WEDDINGS AND CONCERTS.

We are only minutes from the downtowns of Peterborough, Hancock, Harrisville and Dublin, yet we are private and secluded. We have a beautiful view of Grand Monadnock and there is always a light-show on the mountain morning and evening. Our horses graze in the pasture just outside your door, and our rooster will wake you in the mornings.

If mattresses/bedding are damaged, guests will be responsible for cost of replacing same immediately.

*Be aware that the space is not "childproofed" and guests are responsible for keeping children safe and property undamaged.
*Please inform us if you are to have any visitors while you are here (no overnights allowed).

I am a professional photographer, farmer and animal lover . I enjoy reading, listening to music and to be outdoors skiing, gardening, riding, hiking and kayaking. I work regularly at MacDowell, the oldest Art Residency program in the country. I grew up here on the property and enjoy sharing the peaceful tranquility with guests by giving complete privacy but by always being nearby to attend to any needs that may arise.
