Other things to note
Lightning Ridge is a unique place and our home and Coconut Grove reflects that. It's a little bit like camping, only with a few important mod cons, so please come with an open mind!

Welcome to Coconut Grove’s Bathroom!
This cute and quirky little outhouse has been built in a repurposed garden shed with recycled and upcycled materials gathered over many years!
The floor is made of opal tailings from our mine and the door was reclaimed from an old house destined for the tip.
We have installed a modern composting toilet which you may be unfamiliar with so let me give you some assurances and instructions!

This compost loo is fabulous because it separates the liquids from the solids - there are two compartments/chambers for this purpose.

To wee/pee/number 1, all you need to do is sit and go! When you wipe with paper, please put the paper in the black bucket to your left and keep the lid on!
To poo/poop/number 2, you will need to open the ‘chamber’ before you go - this is important as it makes the clean up much easier! After you have completed the act, take a scoop of the coir mix/sawdust available to your left and cover it over - this helps the composting process and the smell. Put the paper in the black bucket. Then close the chamber.
After either act please use the spray bottle provided (it’s vinegar and water) and spray well and then use the blue wiper tool wrapped in a bit of paper and wipe the bowl/s to keep clean. Put any paper used in the black bucket.
Emptying the chambers - you may find that within a couple of days the liquid container gets full, it’s easy to empty by just releasing the seat and then the second cover to reveal the chambers - simply pick up the front container and empty by the tree out the back of the bathroom and then return. If you are staying longer and notice the solids container becomes full, it’s a simple process to lift up the lid, twisting as you go so as to retain any material inside and then unclipping it from the lid. Tie a knot in the bag and put in the garbage bin at the back of the Bathroom. You’ll need to replace the bag, which are available on a shelf in the bathroom, clipping it into place and putting a scoop of coir/sawdust to get started.
Please ask if you need help or clarification or would prefer our team to do this for you!
