This spacious apartment is the garden floor of a two story home close to downtown Ciales where there is a Coffee Museum, organic farms, amazing caves, climbing cliffs, high peaks hiking, river swimming, and a quick drive to the Atlantic Ocean.
The very clean and spacious room is equipped with ceiling fans, an outdoor heated shower, and full kitchen with large refrigerator, gas stove and oven. The owners live on site and are available to assist with check-in and all of your trip planning.
The space
This modern home is surrounded by a large garden with tropical fruit trees and flowers. The home has reliable electricity and a large water tank on the roof plus a reliable local spring fed water supply.
A bag of local coffee and teas are provided with the room. We are very close to some of the best rock climbing, surfing, snorkeling, caving, and swimming holes (rivers) on the island.
The downstairs apartment has two outside entrances and a private outdoor patio surrounded by tropical fruits and vegetables. Within walking distance to the markets and restaurants of the historic Spanish town of Ciales and exactly an hour from the San Juan Airport.
Bug screens on all doors and windows allow you to enjoy the open air living of the tropics and four large ceiling fans keep the space cool on a summer day. Glass windows also allow you to shut the space for complete quiet if you desire.
We speak English, Spanish, French, and American and welcome guests of all backgrounds to stay in our home.
Guest access
Private covered parking, private entrance, private back deck and garden with entire first floor of quiet residential home.
Other things to note
Situated at the gateway to the Toro Negro National Forest and the highest peaks on the island, the cool air that flows down the river canyon keeps nighttime temperatures 10-20 degrees less than in the city. Amazing beaches such as Playa Esperanza and Playa Mar Chiquita are an easy 25 minute drive away and local mountain swimming holes even closer.
A large water tank on the roof provides back-up against any water outages which are common on the island.

Where you’ll be
Puerto Rico
This is a very safe neighborhood full of backyard gardens, friendly neighbors, and filled with the smells and sounds of the tropical rainforest. It is named La Cordillera "The Mountain Range"due to being on the side of the steep karst mountain wilderness that surrounds the Manati River Valley.
