The Charlotte Chalet is an East Idaho twist on a modern mountain chalet. Within 5 minutes, you can hit the trails, paddle the river, golf, or ski on thousands of acres of Idaho wilderness. The Chalet is only a 10-minute drive into town. Level II EV Charging is available for registered guests.
The space
The Charlotte Chalet was built in 1964 and is a 2200 sq. ft. 2 story modern mountain home. There is an additional 1000 sq. ft. of mature tree-shaded deck and patio, as well as 2.75 acres to enjoy. It features 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms and has 7 beds with 1 King, 1 Queen, and 4 Twin bunk beds. An additional pullout Queen sleeper sofa in the downstairs living room can stretch accommodations to 10 people. An infant Pack N' Play is also in the King closet downstairs.
The indoor dining area is equipped to seat 8 guests, while the outdoor dining table can be expanded to seat 8-10 (Seasonal availability. Deck outdoor furniture is stored once the snow starts.) There is also an infant high chair in the laundry room.
The Chalet is designed to bring outdoor spaces inside. The upstairs living room flows into the outdoor sectional seating, and the chef's kitchen flows onto the deck, where you'll find an oversized 5-burner professional gas griddle to cook for your crew.
Watch a family movie or sporting event upstairs on the 75" 4k tv in our oversized feather-stuffed sectional, or challenge your crew to a game of regulation-sized foosball, cornhole, or a wide selection of board games. Relax in the hammocks under the mature elm trees or hike up the back of the nearly 3-acre property for a picturesque view of the Caribou National Forest, Scout, and Slate Mountains. Enjoy complimentary coffee or hot chocolate on the covered deck overlooking the Portneuf Gap and Indian Mountain.
The Chalet is a popular destination for Portneuf Amphitheater concert goers, ISU sporting and graduation events, Lava Hot Springs visitors, Pebble Creek skiers, Scout Mountain marathoners, Juniper Hills golf and tennis tournaments, Camp Taylor attendees, Teton and Yellowstone tourists and more.
We're located 10 minutes from downtown Pocatello and I-15, 15 minutes from Idaho State University, and 5 minutes from the Mink Creek Recreation Area, Nordic Center, and Scout Mountain in the Caribou National Forest. The Pebble Creek Ski Area is a short 25-minute drive away and is visible through the Portneuf Gap. The world-famous natural volcanic hot springs of Lava Hot Springs are a short 30-40 minute drive Southeast.
Guest access
Guests have full use of all spaces except the garage at this time. We welcome family gatherings for registered guests but are not a venue.
Other things to note
We do our best to accommodate guests such as children and the elderly, including ample private parking, bath and shower mats, removable bath handles, portable baby gates, high chairs, and crib/pack n' play. We make no claims to ADA compliance. The Chalet is a 60-year-old two-story mountain home with stairways to the entrance.
Please take a look at the house rules. We're zoned rural residential. Neighbors have children and farms, and drivers should watch for children, livestock, and wildlife.
We have approved long-term rentals in the past, but we will require a non-refundable commitment for all future long-term bookings to prevent last-minute cancellations that hold the property hostage during booking season. Thank you for your understanding.
