Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Secluded traditional farmhouse set in private woodland with stunning views. Ideal for nature lovers who are comfortable with rustic, characterful accommodation. Nestled in extensive wooded grounds, a barn for bike storage and ample parking—perfect for families, friends, walkers and cyclists.

The space
Cefn is a large, characterful farmhouse set in its own grounds, with great views across the surrounding hills and the Dyfi estuary. It has been owned and loved as a holiday home by the same family, across four generations, since the 1950's.

Downstairs, there is plenty of space to relax and gather, with two simple but comfortable living rooms—each with either a wood burner or an open fireplace—a well-equipped fitted kitchen, a shower room, and a utility room. Upstairs, there are five bedrooms sleeping up to twelve guests (five doubles and three singles), along with a family bathroom and a separate toilet with wash basin.

Furnishings are modest and functional, giving a laid-back, imperfect, characterful look with plenty of gently aged pieces.

The kitchen is well equipped with an electric range cooker, microwave, toaster, fridge freezer, and a traditional butler sink, as well as a dishwasher and washing machine for added convenience.

The house has mains electricity, with smart storage heaters downstairs, and electric wall heaters upstairs to keep things comfortable. Hot water is provided by an immersion heater.

Bedding is provided, but you will need to bring your own bath towels.

As an older, very rural, stone farmhouse, there is always a repair or improvement needed somewhere. Cefn isn’t a place for modern luxury or high-end finishes. Instead, Cefn offers something far more special: a peaceful atmosphere, plenty of character, and truly beautiful surroundings.

With its thick slate walls and original stone floors downstairs, the house can feel cooler than a modern property (even with the heating on) so we recommend bringing slippers and cosy jumpers—especially in winter. The stairs are a bit steeper than in a modern house, the outside terrain isn't level, and we don't have a stairgate. Please think carefully about all the above if you plan to come with infants, toddlers or people with reduced mobility.

Outside, there is a large barn available for storing bikes, and the grounds extend over an acre- a mix of open ground and woodland. The woodland area with badger setts, winding paths, and tree swings offers hours of exploration for both children and the young at heart. We recommend star-gazing on a clear night on the top of the hill.

Surrounded by woods and fields, the house is rich in wildlife, and there is usually livestock nearby. As we can't guarantee the grounds are fully enclosed, we are unfortunately unable to accept pets.

As this is a much-loved family holiday home, we also kindly ask that it is not booked for hen or stag dos or parties.

Guest access
Full exclusive access to house, barn and private woodlands

Other things to note
The WiFi is generally good, but we do have outages from time to time. There is good 4G in the area but it is weaker in parts of the house due to the thickness of the walls.

We don't currently have a working TV due to no access to cable or FreeView. Personal screens can be used to stream and download using the house WiFi within reasonable usage.
