Casa Igarapé is an ecological hut at the foot of the Serra de Igarapé, made with raw earth, steel, wood and ceramics. Integrated into the landscape, it has a balcony and spa with heated hydro and open views of the hills, intense sunset and starry sky, away from the city lights. Almost absolute silence, broken only by toucans and siriemas. Ideal for remote work with concentration. Between Itaúna and Inhotim, perfect for couples from Belo Horizonte and the region or from other cities in search of peace and warmth.
The space
The bungalow, a rustic cabin with an original design and very Brazilian architecture, is compact and tailored for two people. Always clean and true to the photos, it offers seclusion and comfort in a quiet and preserved environment at the foot of the Serra, well situated between the Cerrado forest of Minas Gerais and the pasture.
It is a contemporary chalet, perfect for disconnecting, relaxing or working, surrounded by greenery and an open horizon.
Here, time passes differently. The water comes out fresh from the clay filter, the coffee boils in the Italian coffee maker, and the smell takes over the house. Outside, the mountain range is still covered in fog. The smell of warm bread mixes with that of the bush, and the cicadas start early. The light enters slowly, changes color throughout the day, and the house changes with it. The house has a total area of 54 m², with about 20 m² inside and the rest a covered porch that surrounds the entire space.
Everything here invites you to slow down, listen to the silence, look at the horizon, and let time pass in its own way.
Due to its size and efficient and functional design, it is considered by some to be a tiny house or a design micro-house. The space is continuous, combining the bedroom and living room into a single room, with a quality sofa bed: wooden base, good-density mattress, pillow top and complete bedding. It is not a bed with a fixed frame, but a design choice that keeps the space fluid and compact. Many guests arrive skeptical and leave surprised, as the reviews show.
The kitchen is complete, with a stove, minibar, dishwasher, blender, mixer, wine glasses, various utensils and basic condiments: oil, vinegar, salt, sugar and tea. Designed for those who want to cook their own meals calmly while looking at the landscape.
A large panoramic window connects the interior and exterior, bringing light, ventilation and the landscape inside. It is a very authentic and rare country house in direct contact with the bush and the animals.
The bathroom has a large shower with water that is always very hot, guaranteed by a powerful heater that uses solar energy.
The peripheral veranda, which protects the core from the sun and rain, is generous and surrounds the entire house, with hammocks that allow you to contemplate the landscape in 360 degrees.
The large whirlpool bathtub (Jacuzzi) completes the experience, functioning as a true private spa with a full view of the mountains, especially the Serra de Igarapé and the surrounding hills and valleys. Perfect for moments for two, special celebrations, or honeymoons. We do maintenance and cleaning between each stay for your maximum comfort. The water is treated with chlorine.
In this sustainable retreat, the earth-toned palette of the wattle and daub, the metal structure, and the cobogós reflects the colors of the sunset and blends into the landscape, creating continuity between the architecture and the terrain. The butterfly roof and tall windows of this designer cabin ensure natural ventilation and abundant light, with bioclimatic solutions that bring the sky inside and reinforce the idea of a fluid space.
There is an oil heater and a feather duvet for the chilly nights. Those who need to maintain their work routine will find fast fiber internet, up to 300 megabytes via cable and 62 via Wi-Fi, a side table, a 27-inch TV with Chromecast, and a Bluetooth speaker.
Located in Itatiaiuçu, within the Circuito Veredas, the bungalow is the ideal retreat to experience days of calm and contemplation in the midst of the nature of Minas Gerais. Guest access
Access is easy, by paved road practically to the door: the asphalt goes all the way to the property's gate. From there to the house, there are only 40 meters of gravel road, which are easy for any ordinary car.
The house is 2.5 km from downtown Itatiaiuçu, 20 km from Itaúna, 85 km from Belo Horizonte (Praça da Liberdade), and 38 km from Inhotim. The trip to Inhotim is easy and takes about 50 minutes.
On the property, keep the car on the gravel path and avoid driving through the pasture, especially on rainy days. There is private outdoor parking with direct access to the house.
Other things to note
Casa Igarapé was designed by the host himself, an architect and set designer, with a focus on the integration of architecture and landscape. Every detail was designed to enhance the silence, natural light, and mountain views.
The house functions in harmony with the environment and follows sustainability principles. Part of the energy comes from solar panels. The water comes from an artesian well or from the Copasa network, and the sewage is treated by a biodigester.
For safety and respect for the vegetation, there is no fireplace, barbecue or fire pit, as the land is pasture that can become dry at certain times of the year. We also do not offer breakfast, but the Pedrosa Supermarket, about a 10-minute drive away, delivers to the house for a fee of less than R$10.
Casa Igarapé was designed for couples. For safety reasons (bodies of water in the area, hammocks at a height, lack of railings in some places), we recommend staying without young children. If you want to come with a child, talk to us before booking. It is possible with a term of responsibility. Because of the materials in the house (raw earth, wood with cracks, suede upholstery), pets are unfortunately not accepted.
On Sundays, we do not receive new guests, so those who are leaving on that day are guaranteed late check-out at no additional cost.
It is common to see birds and small animals from the region, a natural part of the experience of being immersed in the landscape and rural life.
