Peace and quiet

Casa Igarapé is an ecological cabin at the foot of the Serra de Igarapé, made with raw earth, steel, wood and ceramics. The refuge is integrated into the environment: from the balcony or the spa you have an open view of the hills, with an intense sunset and starry sky without the city lights. Everything is silent, broken only by toucans and siriemas. Good for remote work with concentration. Between Itaúna and Inhotim, it is ideal for romantic couples from Belo Horizonte and the surrounding region or other cities, looking for peace and warmth.

The space
The bungalow, a rustic cabin of authorial design with very Brazilian architecture, is compact and tailor-made for two people. Always clean and faithful to the photos, it offers isolation and comfort in a quiet and preserved environment at the foot of the Serra, well inserted between the Cerrado mineiro forest and the pasture.
It is a contemporary chalet, perfect for disconnecting, relaxing or working surrounded by greenery and open horizons.

Time passes differently here. The water comes out fresh from the clay filter, the coffee brews in the Italian coffee maker and the smell takes over the house. Outside, the mountain is still covered in fog. The oven heats the cheese bread, the wind brings the smell of the bush, and the cicadas start early. The light comes in slowly, changes color throughout the day, and the house changes with it. The house has 54 m² of total area, about 20 m² of which is internal and the rest is a covered balcony that surrounds the entire volume.
Everything here invites you to slow down, listen to the silence, look at the horizon and let time pass in its own way.

Due to its size and efficient and functional design, it is considered by some to be a tiny house or micro-design house. The space is continuous, uniting bedroom and living room in a single environment, with a comfortable sofa bed, pillow top and quality trousseau.

The kitchen is complete, with a stove, minibar, dishwasher, blender, mixer, wine glasses, various utensils and basic condiments.
A large panoramic window connects the interior and exterior, bringing light, ventilation and the landscape inside. It is a very authentic and rare country house in direct contact with the bush and animals.
The bathroom has a large shower with water that is always very hot, guaranteed by a powerful heater that uses solar energy.
The peripheral balcony, which protects the core from the sun and rain, is generous and surrounds the entire house, with hammocks that allow you to contemplate the landscape in 360 degrees.

The large bathtub (jacuzzi) with hydromassage completes the experience, functioning as a true private SPA with a full view of the mountains, especially the Serra de Igarapé and the surrounding hills and valleys.
Perfect for moments for two, special celebrations or honeymoons.
We do maintenance and cleaning between each stay for your maximum comfort. The water is treated with chlorine.

In this sustainable retreat, the earth-toned palette of the wattle and daub, the metal structure and the cobogós reflects the colors of the evening and blends into the landscape, creating continuity between architecture and terrain.
The butterfly roof and tall windows of this designer cabin ensure natural ventilation and abundant light, with bioclimatic solutions that bring the sky inside and reinforce the idea of fluid space.

There is an oil heater and feather duvet for cold nights.
Those who need to keep up with their work routine will find fast fiber internet up to 300 megabytes on cable and 62 on Wi-Fi, a side table, a 27-inch TV with Chromecast, and a Bluetooth speaker.

Located in Itatiaiuçu, within the Veredas Circuit, the bungalow is the ideal refuge to live days of calm and contemplation amidst the nature of Minas Gerais.
An eco-friendly lodging and at the same time a true modern country house, with comfort, privacy and design in harmony with the environment.

Guest access
Access is easy, by paved road practically to the door. There are only 40 meters of gravel left inside the land.
The house is 2.5 km from downtown Itatiaiuçu, 20 km from Itaúna, 85 km from Belo Horizonte (Praça da Liberdade) and 38 km from Inhotim. The journey to Inhotim is quiet and takes about 50 minutes.
Inside the property, keep the car on the gravel road and avoid driving through the pasture, especially on rainy days.

Other things to note
Casa Igarapé was designed by the host himself, an architect and set designer, focusing on the integration between architecture and landscape. Every detail was designed to enhance the silence, natural light and mountain views.

The house works in harmony with the environment and follows sustainability principles. Part of the energy comes from solar panels. The water comes from an artesian well or the Copasa network, and the sewage is treated by a biodigester.
For safety and respect for the vegetation, there is no fireplace, barbecue or ground fire, since the land is a pasture that can be dry at certain times of the year.
It is common to see birds and small animals in the region, a natural part of the experience of being immersed in the landscape and rural life.

Neighborhood highlights

Casa Igarapé is in Itatiaiuçu, in the far west of the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region, between Itaúna, Igarapé and Itaguara. It is at the point where the Serra do Curral extends and becomes the Serra de Igarapé, also called Serra Itatiaia or Serra da Pedra Grande, one of the ramifications that mark the transition between the capital and the interior. It is from this mountain that comes the name of the municipality: in Tupi, Itatiaiuçu means “big toothed stone”, a reference to the cut-out shape of the mountains that dominate the landscape.

The region has been living for decades with the intense presence of mining, which has been altering the landscape and natural rhythm of the mountains. The house was born as a silent response to this scenario, a gesture of poetic resistance and reconciliation with the land.

The region is rural, productive and preserved. It is one of the areas that supply Belo Horizonte and neighboring cities with vegetables, fruits and fresh produce, housing small properties, sites and cattle ranches. The altitude climate, the pure air and the silence of the countryside make the place a perfect retreat for rest, creative immersion or remote work with peace of mind.

The surrounding area offers several nature experiences. The trails of the Serra da Pedra Grande and Serra Azul reveal viewpoints and rock formations with beautiful views. The area's waterfalls, such as Sete Quedas, complete the tour. There are also historical points such as the Slave Wall, as well as villages and rural landscapes that preserve the mining rhythm and way of life of the countryside.

For those who like outdoor activities, the area is perfect for cycling, walking or simply exploring the territory. Cyclists, trailers, photographers and birdwatchers find in the mountains' roads and woods a scenario of silence, light and wildlife. It is common to spot toucans, siriemas and maritacas in the morning.

Casa Igarapé is in a privileged position in the triangle formed by Belo Horizonte, Inhotim and Itaúna. It is 85 km from the capital, 38 km from Inhotim (Brumadinho), 20 km from Itaúna and 2.5 km from the center of Itatiaiuçu. The location is perfect for couples and travelers who want to combine nature, comfort and easy access to the region's top attractions.

My work: Architect & Scenographer
Speaks English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish
I am an architect and scenographer, living between Minas and southern France. I have great concern about the way the Brazilian territory has been occupied, in the countryside and in the cities. I believe that we need to look more closely at what our own context offers the best and, from this, create more ingrained, sensitive and true architectures.
