Nestled in at the base of the rainforest, only a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute drive to downtown Jaco. Located on the quieter and more private south end of Jaco Beach. Casa Ginger backs on to lush rainforest with cheeky monkeys, exotic parrots and peaceful iguanas.
We had been using this house as our place to stay while in Costa Rica until February 2015 but have moved now to a new location, freeing this one up.
Casa Ginger features a pretty amazing, 2-story, ocean-view, roof-terrace with a hot tub, barbecue and eating area as well as a sun deck! At the side of the house is a small soaking pool and fruit garden. If there are any ripe fruits, they are for the guests to enjoy :) There is also an outdoor shower for washing off when returning from the beach or leaving the pool.
Casa Ginger is rented as a whole house but can be used as two apartments. An interior stairway can either connect the two apartments, or the lockable door can be used to divide the two living spaces. Each apartment can accommodate 3 people comfortably and up to 6 people (so the whole house can accommodate 6-12 - more details below).
The upper apartment contains a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, a living room with either an air matress or pull out couch, 2 bathrooms (each with its own shower) and a kitchen. The master bed easily fits two. The guest bed is a double bed and the pull out couch is the equivalent of a double bed. Only the upper apartment has access to the roof terrace. The upper apartment also has a balcony off the living room. Please note: the bathrooms are not ensuite.

Casa Ginger has a 2-car garage. Please let me know in advance if you will need access to the garage during your stay.
The house is completely fenced in and is secured with barbed wire towards the mountain. The house also has an alarm system.
Please make sure you read and agree to the house rules before booking!
Guest access
There is free wifi throughout the house and cable tv in each living room. The wifi works best in the living rooms, and can be spotty in the bedrooms due to the concrete construction of the house.
The hot tub, BBQ & soaking pool are for you to enjoy and feel free to eat any fruit in the garden! If run low on propane just ask Alfonso to refill the tanks for the BBQ :)
We do not provide beach towels, so please bring your own.
We only provide 2 sets of keys, no matter how many guests are staying in the house.
Other things to note
If you would like the house cleaned daily (or at some other interval) during your stay please let me know in advance and I can arrange cleaning staff to visit you who you can then pay them directly.
If you are bringing pets please let me know in advance.
A small note: As a design element, the stairs to the roof terrace do not have a railing and could be dangerous for small children (please look at the photo "stairs to roof terrace" if this is of concern).
In general we have flexible check-in and check-out times. However, if a guest wants to check-in on your check-out date, we will need to get into the house to clean at 10am and we will kindly ask that you leave before then. Similarly, if someone is checking-out on your check-in date, we will only be able to provide you with a late (6pm) check-in (you can leave your luggage at the house while the cleaning lady works of course).

Before booking please read and agree to our house rules:
1) Absolutely no smoking inside. Thank you.
2) Petty theft can happen, so please keep the gates and doors locked at all times (and keep the garages closed). Put the alarm on when you are not inside the house. We also advise you to keep the alarm on when you are in the house. At night or when you are out, keep the balcony doors closed. If you accidentally set off the alarm please contact Alfonso immediately.
3) If any wild animals come to the property from the mountain/rainforest (like monkeys or iguanas) please do not feed them. We want to keep them as unused to humans as possible.
4) The washing machine can't handle sandy towels, so please shake your towels outside before putting them to wash if you come from the beach.
5) Alfonso will hand you the keys when you arrive. Please also hand the keys directly and personally back to Alfonso. Otherwise, we will have to charge for key, lock and alarm control replacement. Thanks for your understanding.
6) While in the hot tub:.
*No eating
*Do not drink from glass receptacles (no glasses/glass bottles/etc)
*Do not enter after recently applying sunscreen/creams/oils (it clogs the jets)
*After use, please reduce temperature to its lowest setting.
7) Quiet time starts at 10pm as not as not to disturb our neighbours. Do not honk car horns or play loud music after 10pm. Please be considerate to the families staying next door.
8) Before you leave, please tidy up and leave the house neat, just as you found it. Please leave all dirty towels that you have not washed on the floor in the bathroom. Clean all your dirty dishes or put them in the dishwasher and set it to run. If you have stained any towels or sheets please bring them to Alfonso's attention. We will charge for any and all stained (or missing) linens/towels. The cleaning fee only covers a basic cleaning, any extra cleaning that is needed will be charged.
