The space
The villa has air conditioning on the ground floor, three air-conditioned bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, including an ensuite bathroom off the primary bedroom. The primary also has a walk-through closet with lots of storage and hanging space for clothes and suitcases. Bedroom #2 also has storage and hanging space. Bedroom #3 has cube storage with six shelves.
The modern kitchen boasts the latest appliances and cookware for the gourmet chef. Breakfast island, stove/oven, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, kettle, pots and pans, utensils, plates and bowels, cups and glasses.
Flooring is a glossy porcelain tile throughout to keep the home cool and looks beautiful. All countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms are granite. The laundry room is outside under the stairs with exterior access to eliminate noise and heat from the villa. Double sliding patio doors off the kitchen and living room, along with huge windows in each bedroom and the stairwell allow for lots of natural light during the day. Screens have been installed on all doors, bedroom windows and bathroom windows.
The patio and roof have been enlarged (2022), and a ceiling fan has been added.
A live edge wood desk has been installed in the living room (2022). Internet has been upgraded to fiber (60MB) (wi-fi or LAN - bring a cable just in case ours goes missing).
The private outdoor pool will be waiting patiently for your arrival. You may find that when you are at the villa, you spend most of your time in and around the pool. Hedges (Limoncillo) have been planted to line the sides and back of each property and will grow up to 8 feet, providing "living" fences. Two Red Palm trees and three trees (lime, orange and avocado) have been planted in the back yard.
Please note that we only allow a maximum of one (1) pet.
Guest access
The entire villa is available for your use, including the bedrooms, bathrooms, full laundry, kitchen, living room, backyard, pool and car port.
Included in your rental is free wifi (60MB fiber) and worldwide phone calls as detailed below. Just advise the PM if the phone needs to be reloaded for international calls.
Some optional services can include choice of cleaning frequency, local airstrip pickup, gourmet chef, bootcamp exercise training, yoga retreat and booking excursions.
Free Magic Jack telephone access is available in the living room. It is based on a Canadian phone number so if you are calling North America, simply dial as if you were at home. If calling an international number, dial as normal. If calling a Costa Rican number, dial 011-506 then the local 8 digit number.
However, most people and businesses use What s App to communicate instead of cell phones. Download and use while connected to any wi-fi. Most restaurants have free wi-fi, you just have to ask for the password.
Other things to note
The beautiful, tropical beach is a short walk from the villa. Set against a backdrop of secluded golden sand, Tambor Beach is snuggled into Bahia Ballena, or Whale Bay, on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. Tambor is known as a gateway to the area's biological diversity; the Nicoya Biological Corridor cradles the beach, which is also bordered by the ecological riches of Curu Wildlife Refuge.
As well as golfing at Los Delfines, available area activities include horseback riding, surfing, hiking, ziplining, river rafting, ATV trips, deep sea fishing and many more.
For details of many activities, search online for the Nicoyazoom magazine.
Wildlife is plentiful in the Nicoya Biological Corridor, and especially so at Curu Wildlife Refuge (20km from the villa) and Cabo Blanco Reserve. Wildlife watchers may spot raccoon, coatimundi, whitetail deer, armadillo, white-lipped and collared peccary, puma, kinkajou, howler and spider monkeys, agouti, jaguarundis, and Baird's tapir. Birdwatchers will also delight in the wide variety of avian species found in the refuges: parakeets, scarlet macaws, woodpeckers, osprey, common black hawks, brown pelicans, crested guan, frigate birds, gulls, pelicans, ospreys and herons are often seen. The best time for wildlife watching is early in the morning, between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and in the afternoon between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Day trips from Playa Tambor offer the opportunity to snorkel and dive some of Costa Rica's most colorful and exciting underwater locations. PADI-certified instructors offer multi-day courses to aspiring divers, with a day-long “discovery session" for beginners. For a one-day jaunt, take a catamaran ride out to the Turtle Island, where snorkelers will explore the colorful sea life in the tame, sparkling waters. Angelfish, puffer fish, corals, blue spotted jacks, eels, octopi, lobsters, oysters, and needlefish are commonly spotted in the clear shallows.
Enjoy the Pacific's delicious opportunities on an inshore or offshore sport fishing excursion. Comfortable 26 to 35 ft. boats leave port daily, with their experienced captains guiding guests to the best spots for big game fish. Common catches include yellow and black-fin tuna, red snapper, grouper, striped and black marlin, snook, and mahi mahi. Anglers have the option of sampling the freshest sushi in town, or saving their prize for later.
