The space
Spring kicks off firefly season! Camp Big Rack is a rustic, spacious cabin. It's perfect for a family or friend group needing to unplug and recharge. This is an Old Florida hunt | fish camp, overlooking the Ocklawaha River.

Warm up next to the wood burning stove, or cool off at a local spring. This location is great for exploring the Ocala National Forest.

Base camp for:
-Tour the Ocklawaha River.
-Visit Silver Springs glass bottomed boats.
- Jeep & OHV trails
- Rodman Reservoir
- ONF Springs

The (deeded) neighborhood river access is a few cabins away. It offers incredible sunset & bird migration views. The boat launch is suited for paddlecraft & airboats. Swimming is not recommended.

Camp Big Rack is great for hunters, fishermen and ma'ams, glampers, bird watchers, and people wanting a slower pace in life.

Note: I know the TUB may be exciting some of y'all, so I want to address the fact that although beautiful, it works much better as a shower due the hot water tank size and well water conservation. Please expect to treat it more like a shower off spot, shallow bath, cold therapy, or fun photo opp.

To get your vacation started with ease,
I supply some basics like soap, coffee, filters and cleaning supplies. The Eureka DG Market is 10 minutes away for last minute shopping trips. Cell coverage varies, please screenshot or print access details before you go.
Also, this is my family's cabin, not an investment or corporate Airbnb. I'm happy to share a bit of "old Florida" with you when we aren't using it.

Guest access
Enjoy the entire property.

Other things to note
- NO PETS: Due to family with extreme allergies, we are strict with our cabin's NO pet policy.

- Minimum age to rent is 25 years old.

- Wifi and cell service varies in the woods. Screenshot important details before you go.

- Camp Big Rack is a rustic cabin in the middle of the woods, on a dirt road. Wildlife visitors like deer, bears, turkey, fox squirrel, bugs, spiders, coyotes, skunkape, cranes, alligators, turtles, etc. can occur.

- Please return the cabin how you got it. In lieu of a cleaning fee, we ask guests to tidy up before they go. Start the wash, clean your dishes, wipe off stove top & counters, sweep up and take all of your trash with you. Pack in, pack out.

-There is no trash service. Guests are expected to be "bear-aware" & take all trash to ine of the local recycling centers at check out. NEVER leave trash outside or in your vehicle.

- Please note, this is NOT a corporate owned, perfect Airbnb. This is my family cabin. You're likely to encounter faded paint, well water, a few older windows that no longer open, hickory nuts on the porch roof (seasonally,) crooked floors, airboats and owls. An occasional raccoon, definitely a lizard or two, and everything else that goes with rustic Florida cabin life.

Neighborhood highlights

The Riversites neighborhood, or better known locally as "Big Rack" - Named for a legendar, resident white tailed deer - is a close knit, cabin loop in Hog Valley, Florida. Most Big Rack cabins were built in the middle to late 60s as dog camps.

Two of the Ocklawaha River's "lost springs" flow here!

Florida history lovers will note the views to Paynes Landing/Cypress Bayou, where the 2nd Seminole Treaty was signed (under coorsion.) The Seminole camped on the bluff behind my cabin while scoping out Paynes Landing prior to the rendezvous.

Hog Valley is immersed in nature and history. The area is a world away from traffic, streetlights, and obligations. The rural neighborhoods flank the Ocklawaha River in the Ocala National Forest.
