Escape to Calm Acre Cabin, an off-grid sanctuary nestled on the serene Welsh border. Experience the peace of off-grid living, where starlit nights and the gentle sounds of nature replace the distractions of modern life. Calm Acre Cabin offers an opportunity to fully unwind, recharge, and rediscover the simple pleasures in this unique, off-grid, tiny home. Enjoy panoramic countryside views while your dogs play safely and happily in a generously sized, fully enclosed & secured garden.

The space
Imagine a retreat designed for your complete well-being, nestled amidst the breathtaking Welsh border countryside. This is more than a cabin; it's a sanctuary where you can truly disconnect, unwind, and rediscover yourself.

Leave the digital world behind. Switch off your phone and immerse yourself in nature's symphony: the gentle murmur of the river, the melodic chirping of birds, a sky full of stars. This is your time to breathe, to simply be.

Calm Acre Cabin offers a seamless blend of rustic charm and thoughtful comfort. While it forgo's mains electricity - battery, solar and gas power ensure you have everything you actually need. A cool box is your fridge replacement and ice packs can be refreshed on request. A double gas stove with grill and hot plate for all your culinary needs as well as a large outdoor bbq, and a portable gas fire to keep you cosy, warm on those cooler evenings in.

Sink into a double orthopaedic mattress, promising a night of restorative sleep. Discover a curated selection of books, magazines, games, gas fire and warm blankets within the cabin for a cosy night in. Or flick through the pages of the welcome book to see what eateries and drinks are available nearby.

Plan your days of exploring local footpaths, hiking in the Brecon Beacons, waterfall chasing, outdoor activities such as canoeing the River Wye or horse riding on the famous Offa's Dyke Path (the path is right next to the cabin!), shopping in the independent literary town of Hay-on-Wye, or maybe...just relax at the cabin and it's beautiful surroundings needing nothing else but time.

Your furry companions are welcomed with open arms. A dedicated dog bed, bowl, and cosy blanket ensure their comfort in the cabin whilst the garden area offers a true playground. A fully fence-secured area with plenty of space to run free. From manicured paths, to long grass, to a woodland area, to private river access - your dog will be in heaven and you can relax knowing your pet is safe. Do be aware that the cabin is situated on a family farm and often have sheep in the surrounding fields - however, many owners have commented on how this has been excellent for letting their dogs get used to other animals from a distance, even the reactive ones!

Enjoy a hot shower in the outdoor facility, complete with fluffy towels and eco-friendly toiletries. A hygienic camping toilet with flush too - no long drops here!

The sheltered outdoor space, "The Wood Cwtch," invites you to unwind with comfortable furniture, extra blankets, a marshmallow toaster, games, magazines, a hot flask, solar hanging lights, and a fire pit. Logs and kindling are provided.

There are also hammocks, deck chairs, outdoor dining table, a bbq (in the summer months), private river access, and an abundance of fresh herbs to pick at your leisure, even some strawberries too!

This is your opportunity to reconnect with nature, and yourself. Breathe in the fresh country air, embrace a simpler pace of life, and treat yourself to the break you truly deserve - this place is a little bit of magic.

Guest access
Arrive with ease. Parking is conveniently located directly outside the cabin entrance within the secure, gated field - making unpacking and packing a breeze.

For those occasions of exceptionally wet weather, there is a firm, alternative parking spot just a quick 30 second stroll away. Rest assured, I'll inform you either way and provide all information for a stress free check in before you arrive.

Other things to note
Before booking, please note:

Calm Acre Cabin is located upon my family's farmland and there are sheep often in the fields surrounding them. If you bring your dog, please ensure they are on the lead if walking through areas with sheep. From time to time my relatives will tend to the farm, you won't be disturbed at the cabin but feel free to give them a friendly wave if you see them :)

The cabin operates off-grid. Lighting, heating, and cooking are powered by either gas, solar, and battery. Therefore, there are no standard electrical outlets for charging devices or using appliances like hairdryers. If you like to keep your phone handy, I would recommend bringing a portable charger for this, just in case.

Food Storage: A cool box is provided for chilled items, and ice packs can be refreshed upon request. They usually keep chilled for a few days at a time.

Cooking: The cabin features a double gas camping stove with a grill/flat plate, suitable for most cooking needs (excluding oven-based dishes). A large BBQ is also available; please bring your own charcoal if you would like to use it.

Heating: A small gas heater is provided for colder evenings. Please use it with extreme caution, the cabin is completely made out of wood...

Electronics: For charging devices, please bring portable power banks. While there's no Wi-Fi, most phone providers offer 4G/signal, though it may be weaker indoors. Contact me if you'd like me to check the signal strength beforehand.

Amenities: The outdoor shower, enclosed for privacy, is gas-powered for hot water. A folding sink and draining board are within the shower area for washing up. The toilet is a compact, hygienic camping toilet with a flush, emptied every 3-5 days or upon request.

Provided: All linen, towels, blankets, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, washing up and cleaning products, toilet roll, firewood, firelighters, matches and kindling for fire pit, yoga mats, books, magazines, games, tea, coffee, sugar, alternative milk, drinking water, cookware & utensils, crockery and cutlery, dog bed, dog bowls & blanket and probably more but i forget the whole list....

Neighborhood highlights

The cabin is situated on the border of England and Wales in the county of Powys, next to the River Arrow and in a valley of rolling hills with stunning field views which have amazing sunrise and sunset colours! There are 4 houses nearby (it is a very small and very quiet hamlet) but they are all set behind the cabin so you won't see or hear anyone and have privacy. The acre is on family farm land so you will often see some sheep and, on the odd occasion, a friendly farmer counting sheep! There is a public footpath right next to the cabin that takes you straight onto Offas Dyke Path so you may see the odd rambler passing from time to time, but generally it's a very quiet path with only a handful of people passing through yearly. There are shops, eateries, pubs, pharmacies, post offices, etc just a 10 minute drive away in the towns of Kington or the book town of Hay-on-Wye (voted prettiest town in Wales!) which is well worth a visit. There are also many amazing places to eat nearer and/or a little hidden but they are all named in the guest book in the cabin along with sample menus to peruse and see what tickles your tastebuds! The nearest fuel station/garage is roughly 6 minutes away and has a 'Spar' shop open until 10pm. A little further a field (30 minutes) you have Brecon and the Brecon Beacons National Park with the highest peak in South Wales (Pen-Y-Fan) should you love a good hike. Or perhaps for more shops and restaurants could head in other direction (30 minutes) to the beautiful city of Hereford. Feeling more adventurous? Canoeing down the river Wye is a truly fun and stunning experience during the summer months, or explore local footpaths for gorgeous uninterrupted views of Wales and England, go horse riding through the valleys, do a pottery class - there's lots more and all close by! Or maybe you just want to put your feet up in the quiet and idyllic countryside, putting your phone away, swinging in a hammock with a good book and not move a muscle for a few days- the choice is totally yours!
