Cabin 16 is within a family resort steps away from Mississagagon Lake, in fact, you can see the lake from every window in the building. It can actually feel like an island.

Lots of ONSITE activities to do depending on the season and conditions! Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, snowshoeshoeing, skating, forest trails, antiques, arts and crafts shop and more!

LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly despite a more conservative locale.

The space
During the spring, late fall, and winter the cabin is like an oasis. Knotty pine and a relaxing ambience makes this a great place for a couple who want to disconnect from the world. Despite this being in a resort, it’s easy to feel the solitude during this time of year.

During the summer it’s a little more airy inside but a little more busy outside. Since this is a family-oriented resort, you will likely see kids and pets, boats and passers-by. Many nights are nice and quiet to enjoy a campfire or stargaze, but some nights could be a little louder, especially on weekends. We try and keep obnoxious noise to a minimum, especially past 11pm.

Kitchen: fridge, oven, microwave, KitchenAid mixer, blender, slow cooker, Keurig (with both reusable and disposable pods), kettle, waffle maker, toaster.... and of course pots, pans, utensils, and all the dishes (and spices!) you could want. Outdoor propane BBQ with utensils.

Bathroom: Stand-up shower, toilet, sink, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner and hand soap are supplied. Bench area for keeping clothing dry, which opens up and stores extra cleaning supplies, forgotten toiletries and feminine products if needed.

Sleeping arrangements: Curious to try a two types of ‘bed-in-a-box’??? The "Purple Room" has a double Endy mattress while the "Blue Room" has two Twin XL Hamuq mattresses that can be pushed together to make a King, or kept apart to accommodate a couple of kids or singles. The living room has a sofa bed with a memory foam mattress (double).

Other things to note: several board games, puzzles, books (take a book/leave a book, or just take a book, I have too many), WiFi, cookbooks, DVDs, Bluetooth speaker, Smart TV with Satellite. Due to the crackdown on password sharing, you’ll now have to sign into your own streaming accounts.

Guest access
You may use anything in the cabin. Make yourselves at home and enjoy yourselves, but please respect the property and all items in the cabin. Most items have sentimental value, so I will know if things become broken or missing. Unfortunately though, life happens and things break, so please! If this happens either tell me or put the broken item on the kitchen table. Maybe I can fix it, but I would like to know if I need to replace an item. Don’t just throw it out or hide it.

Outside, there are some common areas including the beach, causeway, trails, and playground. You can make use of any of it!

Other things to note
Cabin 16 has undergone a massive DIY renovation inside, and is very comfortable. The outside landscaping is still a little rough, but the views and inside certainly make up for any shortcomings. I am more than willing to listen to any suggestions you may have as this cabin has always been, and will continue to be, a work in progress.

Cell service is very spotty at the cabin, but I have Starlink wifi internet , so keeping in touch (if you want to...) shouldn't be a problem via WiFi Calling.

Neighborhood highlights

North Frontenac is an absolutely beautiful patch of wilderness in southeastern Ontario that has scenic looping roads through forests and highlands, wetlands and lakes. I call it “Southern Ontario’s Last Frontier”.

We’re located in a region known as the Land O' Lakes and its claim to fame is Bon Echo Provincial Park just north of Cloyne, which is unfortunately closed (but still accessible at your own risk) during the winter.

It’s primarily a summer destination and the availability of activities to do reflects that. There are a handful of restaurants, shops, and artists (5-15 minutes away) and some are closed during the winter.

North Frontenac is still relatively undiscovered by the masses, but that may soon change as a result of people vacationing closer to home and discovering its beauty.

My work: Resort owner/operator
Speaks English and Spanish
I’m a fish and wildlife technician based out of my family’s resort in southeastern Ontario. Cabin 16 has been a passion project of mine since I purchased it in 2012. I love to travel as well as home renovation projects. I prefer to reuse and reinvent rather than buy new things, so I usually always have some kind of project on the go! I’m also a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and strive to make this resort and wider locale a more welcoming place for not only the queer community but also for the BIPOC communities, which have traditionally been cut off from places like this.
