Imagine the rustic fun and earthiness of cooking on an open fire (or BBQ) whilst having the luxury of a cosy cabin with all the creature comforts of a quality accommodation venue.

Situated in the heart of the pristine Strathbogie Ranges...a world away from city life, we live alongside echidnas, wombats, koalas, platypus, kangaroos and a very friendly Kelpie. Your dogs are welcome but keep on leash is advised.

The space
Idyllic rural property located amongst the stunning granite boulders of Victoria's Strathbogie ranges. Gorgeous peaceful walks and places to just sit.... and sit some more....a perennial mountain creek borders this working farm - 20-30 mins from many local cafes, restaurants, pubs and wineries. Take a creek walk....spot some platypus perhaps? Grey nomads might even use it as a refreshing break from the 'van! plenty of parking...and star gazers are welcome to explore our very dark night sky. We provide a fabulous breakfast hamper for your first morning. As we are superbly isolated from shops we encourage you to bring any provisions you need to make your stay a pleasurable one. Please help yourselves to our veggie garden.

Guest access
Super comfortable king size bed, and two lounge areas to relax in. The small kitchen offers pod coffee, a variety of teas, microwave, fridge, sink and all crockery/cutlery, with an external gas BBQ plus wok burner. You may choose to cook over an open fire (weather permitting) or on the BBQ; pots, pans, provided (ie NO indoor oven )
Indoor & outdoor eating areas including your own private fire-pit.
Peaceful gardens and granite boulders to reconnect yourself to nature. Pick something from our seasonal vegetable garden.
Although our home is completely separated from you by a double car port and a small garden we endeavour to ensure your utmost privacy. ie. our living area is on the other side of the property from yours. DOGS welcome. Leash recommended due to potential for snakes and cattle nearby.

Other things to note
Local shops are 30 mins drive away so please bring any necessities with you. We welcome babes in arms and we can provide a portable cot, however as this is a working farm with unfenced dams, creeks and electric fencing we cannot accommodate toddlers or older children. Pets permitted.
We reserve the right to ask BnB guests to leave if a bushfire is nearby or if the Fire Danger Rating is extreme or catastrophic - we will offer a credit.

Neighborhood highlights

The Strathbogie Ranges are one of the last largely undiscovered and immensely beautiful rural regions in the state of Victoria. An easy 2 hour drive north of Melbourne, the village of Ruffy sits on a tableland at the southern end of the ranges and is accessible by sealed roads. The local landscape is peppered with stunning granite boulders and pristine creeks & gullies. The region is a traditional farming district with a community of around 200 people. The air is fresh and the night skies are perfect for star-gazing as there is no light pollution. Birds abound and whilst we are sometimes reluctant to share our piece of paradise we can't be too greedy so come and visit....soon, before everyone else discovers it!
Feel like a massage? We have a local remedial and/or deep tissue experienced massage therapist. Please let us know upon booking.
