Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
A deluxe school bus located off Hwy 1, 1.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, provide a secluded, sunny off-grid artistic getaway, with organic gardens, "malibu shower", a yoga deck, healing space (with massage, sound healing, reiki and other healing add-ons). The bus has a fully equipped kitchen, wood-stove, on-demand hot water & and private bathroom.

The space
Converted into my home over a decade ago, this bus served as my home until I bought this property in 2006, and it has since been the deluxe guest bus. It is very comfortable and comes with all the luxury one would expect in a cabin -- hot water, full kitchen, refrigerator, and queen bed. It should be noted however, that the ceiling is 6 foot high! Also, there is a private toilet, but it is not inside the bus...instead it is a short jaunt from the front door.

Also, I suggest bringing flip flops or some kind of easy on and off shoes, both for the bus and the bathroom jaunt. I request that the bus be kept as a "no shoes" environment, as I am discovering that the enviro oak flooring is quite sensitive to wear.

Built mainly from recycled & resourced second hand materials, the bus is a 1985 Chevy with a Detroit Diesel engine. Her interior was designed with the "live lightly on the land" aesthetic and all appliances were chosen because they work well with solar power, including propane fridge and oven/stove and wood stove.

The bus has an additional sleeping cubby that can sleep a youth and additional bedding is available -- however it is not "child-proofed" so kids must be at least five years old to sleep there (but "pre-ambulatory" infants are fine too). Furthermore, I'm willing to consider a small dog -- 20lbs and under -- upon request (please check with me before booking), but the bus cannot accommodate medium and big-sized dogs. Dog owners must bring their own dog bedding and towels, and, in the winter or after the beach owners must be sure and dry off their doggie's fur and paws. Also, no cats allowed -- as much as I love them, too many people are allergic to them.

Guest access
Guests have access to wireless internet, landline phone service, the malibu shower. Sometimes the tubs might be available. Additional amenities, including sound healing, sound bath, massage, reiki, yoga, gardening, mushroom hunting expeditions and guided walks can be added to your stay for an additional fee.

Other things to note
Please note that my prices went up because here in Mendocino County we also have to pay Occupancy Tax in addition to state and federal taxes. This price hike goes directly to the county, so thanks for understanding.

Also, as mentioned above, I am open to having small dogs (20lbs or under) on the bus for an additional $50 per stay, but please check with me when booking.

Additional wood heat for longer stays will be negotiable. Different seasons require different wood usage. A wood surcharge could apply for those staying longer than two weeks in the wintertime. Email me for details.

Also, this is an off grid, rural experience. There are bugs, and creatures, and all sorts of things one finds in nature. We have an active new and full moon community, so if you book a stay around a full or new moon, you are welcome to join us! Otherwise, you might hear sounding, singing and drumming, maybe see a bit of dancing!

Neighborhood highlights

I live in the sunny "banana belt" part of the coast. Often the fog is just down the road, but not here. The property has full southern exposure, which means it is light all day long. And of course, on moonless nights, the view of the milky way is spectacular! I am approximately 2 miles from bowling ball beach, which is an amazing, often photographed public accessible beach.

My work: Freelance artist
Fun fact: I am a poet
I live on an off-grid property 1.5 miles north of the Pacific Ocean on HWY 1 in Southern Mendocino County, CA. I am a poet, performer, artist, teacher and yoga practitioner. I love to garden, swim, hike, dance and travel (I have been on every continent)! My property has been described as a retreat center, as I believe all life should be art, and thus everything from the bathtubs to the fireplace to the murals around the property are somehow embellished.
