The apartment is private, self-catered, fully equipped and close to the Shimla City and other adventures and experiences this region has to offer. It is the perfect place for you to quench your wanderlust, whether you are visiting Shimla or on the way to your next adventure. Come and say Hello.

The space
Location:
Start with a quick search of the goooooogle maps of Dhingu Mandir Road. This is roughly where we are. Approximately 3 kms/ 1.86 miles from the Shimla Ridge/Shimla City/Mall Road.

Nearby:
We are located on the foothill of the access stairs to the The Main Jonang Takten Phuntsok Choeling Buddhist Monastery and the Dhingu Devi Temple. I would recommend that you visit these two places while you are here. The walk up to both is moderate-to-hard depending on your fitness, but worth the views and the cultural experience, especially the vantage point near the monastery.

Departmental stores/grocery shops/pharmacy/local bazar is approximately 15 to 20 mins walk down the hill road from the apartment. Also, there are two small grocery shops and a Tibetian/Indian/Chinese fast food corner about 5 mins walk from the apartment.

It is roughly a 40 to 50 minutes leisurely, scenic walk from our place to the Shimla Ridge/Mall Road or a 15-20 minutes drive by a car to the Shimla City. Or you may walk to the Sanjauli Roundabout (15 mins walk) and take a special public taxi to the Shimla Ridge (10 mins). In my opinion the best way to savour the Shimla experience is on foot so bring a good pair of walking shoes. Plenty of public bus transport is also available from the Sanjauli Roundabout (15 mins walk from our apartment).

If you are a nature buff, then the Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary is the place to visit. Goooooogle for more info. It is approximately 3 km/ 1.8 miles from the apartment and would roughly take 30 mins by car or 50 mins by walk to reach. In essence, most of the touristic places are either a short drive or a walk away because of our location.

From the apartment, the Shimla Train Station is approximately 5.8 kms/ 3.6 miles and the Tutikandi Inter State Bus Terminal is 10 kms/ 6.2 miles. Shimla Airport is approximately 20 kms/ 15 miles. Please let me know at-least 24-48 hours prior to your arrival if you may need my help to arrange for a paid taxi or you may use the Ola Taxi App.

The Apartment:
Elevation 2310 is based on the top floor of a four storey building. The access to the apartment is secure, private and one flight of stairs from the road level. The building is situated on a hill road that forks out from the Sanjauli Main Road. Easy-peasy for a motorcycle but can be challenging at certain points for a novice car driver, e.g. if you do not have any experience negotiating tight bends (a few). Having said, it's a perfectly accessible road with low, occasional traffic. Open to air parking is available for free at our apartment building. Kindly Note: Vehicular traffic is not allowed from 8.30 am to 9.15 am and 4.45 pm to 6:30 pm on the Sanjauli Main Road/Sanjauli Bazaar Area, so kindly plan your journey accordingly. If you're driving over, considering our location, ideally its best that you leave your car parked at our parking and explore Shimla on foot or maybe hire a cab/use public transport to get around.

The apartment has an entry foyer, a lounge area, a kitchen, two bedrooms and 2 toilet+bath.

The first bedroom has two single timber beds (which can be joined into a king size bed), a divan, international power points, a reading light and plenty of storage. It is cosy, very inviting and has plenty of natural light. The second bedroom has one kingsize bed, a clothes hanging/storage area and some on-floor seating. It too is very cozy and has insulted walls and roof for a yearlong comfy stay. This bedroom also overlooks the outside terrace with great views through the large bedroom window. The bed linen will be changed every third day in the morning for every booking. You shall be provided with clean, good quality bedding, including quilts and blankets. The mattresses in both the rooms are good quality lumber support memory foam, for that sweet slumber.

The theme of the lounge is Indian/Bohemian with all around low seating and plenty of comfy cushions and a view to-die-for with loads of direct sunshine showering the room during the day. Savour the magnificent view of the valley in the morning and gaze upon the stars at night while enjoying a hot drink/television/book or an engaging conversation. The room has a HD screen with Amazon Firetv. You are most welcome to use your own internet content subscriptions on the device or I can provide you with access to Prime Video, Netflix and Hotstar for the duration of your stay. Free high speed unlimited wifi is available for your use. Please do note, that the apartment does not have a cable tv network (dth).

The kitchen is well equiped with dining for 4, cooking utensils, cutlery, microwave oven, fridge, gas cooktop, kettle, toaster and filtered water. To get you going, you will also be provided with some breakfast cereal, bread, milk, eggs, gourmet tea and gourmet coffee, a moka pot, olive oil and cooking oil. These items will be provided for your first day. Since this is a self catered apartment, you can fill up the pantry as needed. There are takeaway/delivery options also available from restaurants in the nearby bazaar (10-15mins walk downhill). No food is allowed in the bedroom and the lounge area (except beverages), so please keep all the cooking and eating to the kitchen. The kitchen too soaks in loads of sunshine during the day and the view from the kitchen dining table is great!

Both the bathrooms are equiped with a western style toilet, 24X7 running hot and cold water, a shower and buckets. You would be provided with shampoo, moisturiser, toothpaste, a hair dryer, an iron and an ironing board. Since we are not a hotel, kindly feel free to use as much as you need and leave the rest for the next fellow traveller. Based on the duration of your stay/needs, please replenish the stock of the above items as these would not be replenished by the host during the duration of your stay. In the second bathroom, you will also have access to a washing machine. You may dry your clothes on the clothesline provided on your kitchen balcony.

The entry foyer has a smoke alarm, a fire extinguisher, first aid box, emergency card with important information, some female sanitary supplies, and an emergency lantern. Although power cuts are not common, when there is a power outage, it is usually for short intervals. If needed, a power back up battery system can be provided to you. It's not huge, but it should be sufficient to to recharge your mobile phones and power a small light fixture.

You will also have access to the terrace/sun-room next to your unit. Make the most of the day long sunlight, gorgeous views of the valley below, enriching fresh air, cascading fog, gorgeous snowfall and a beautiful night sky.

Guest access
If you've paid for and made a booking for 1 or 2 persons, you shall have access to everything in the apartment except for one of the bedrooms, which would be kept locked for the duration of your stay. You are free to choose between either of the bedrooms.

Other things to note
Shimla is not only loved by its human inhabitants, but also by monkeys (rhesus macaques). Although generally harmless and private, their paths do sometimes cross with the local residents. Because of their inquisitive nature they like checking in on us from time to time in search of food and fun! Please respect their presence by not indulging them with food or threatening gestures/sounds and rest would be fine. Make sure to keep all the outside windows and doors closed all the time.

Since this is a quiet place, kindly keep noise to a minimum. No loud noises/music after 10 PM. This apartment is a no-shoes-indoors house and you would be provided with house slippers.
Any booking requests to pay outside of the Airbnb platform would be automatically denied.

Neighborhood highlights

You would find this part of the world quite friendly, safe and secure. Ours too is a safe area with our neighbours being the Indian military. There is adequate lighting and foot traffic on the approach road to the apartment building. This hill or locally known as Dhingu Dhar, is mostly covered with residential accomodation and is famous for its Dhingu Devi temple and The Main Jonang Takten Phuntsok Choeling Buddhist Monastery. Further along the range, is home to a strong community of Tibetan settlers who have called this home for many decades now. Groups of Buddhist monks and temple devotees are a common sight.
