10 minutes fom Silverwood Theme Park, this is a rustic campsite, nestled in the forest on our 10-acre property, which is located at the end of a quiet, private road, only 3 miles from Highway 95. 5 minutes from Athol and 10 minutes from Spirit Lake, we are in the middle of the woods, yet close to everything!
The space
Campsite is very private and includes a level tent area, a picnic table and fire pit. The tent area can accommodate one large tent or two small tents...a "large" tent meaning up to about 12ft in length, although it is not a defined "tent pad", so you could put a slightly larger tent there...it might just be a little bumpier ground along the edges. There are also plenty of trees to hang a hammock for relaxation or for hammock camping.
The bathroom is a clean, well-maintained porta potty approximately 100ft from the campsite, next to the parking area.
Parking is near the porta-potty, on the circular driveway. There will be a wagon available to help you carry your gear from your car to the campsite.
There is NO WATER available, please bring what you need.
We have firewood available to purchase on site ($6/box, which is about twice the size of the bundles sold at most grocery stores) or you may bring your own.
Please note that this campsite is in the woods where deer & coyotes often roam. There are also occasional visits from moose, bears, cougars and elk, as well as our barn cats. Please take proper precautions with wildlife, as you would at any backwoods campground. We recommend you store all food in your vehicle overnight or when you are away from camp. Please dispose of all waste properly in the provided garbage cans.
The campsite is usually very quiet, but you will occasionally hear the neighborhood dogs and children, including our own. There are train tracks a few miles away....not too loud, but you will hear trains in the distance periodically.
The porta-potty and parking area are within view of our house and shop, approximately 100 feet away. However, the campsite itself is behind a small hill and surrounded by trees, so you will not see our house, or shop (or the neighbors) while in the campsite itself.
This is a non-smoking property.
Guest access
Guests have access to their own driveway, the porta-potty, campsite and the woods immediately surrounding the campsite. Please refrain from venturing too far into the woods, out of respect for our neighbor's private property beyond us. Guests are also welcome to take a stroll down the street, which is a very pleasant 1/3 mile, flat gravel road.
Other things to note
This is a non-smoking property.
We are in the woods and although rare, guests should maintain awareness of possible wildlife encounters, as you would in any forested area. It is common to see deer or wild turkeys or hear coyotes. We occasionally see elk or moose in the area. It is very unlikely to encounter any, but it is possible to have bears, cougars or wolves pass though. Please be aware of your surroundings and do not approach wildlife.
