Thanks to our shared experience with the coronavirus, we've found it valuable to block two days after each booking to allow for a thorough cleaning of the entire home and to sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations.

Our aim is to have you feel comfortable and safe staying at Bear Behind.

If you have not been to Hemlock Valley before, it is a quiet alpine community with no grocery or fuel services. Provisions must be brought up the mountain with you and Bear Behind has room to accommodate them during your stay.

Please be aware that from October to April every year, the government of BC requires that all passenger vehicles driving up Hemlock Valley Road must use all-weather tires (Sidewall must be labelled with M+S, or the 3-peaked mountain/snowflake symbol) and be prepared to use tire chains when necessary. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Bear Behind Lodge is only a few minutes walk from Sasquatch Mountain Resort's quad chair in beautiful Hemlock Valley, about 2 hours east of Vancouver. A little paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, you can enjoy everything from skiing (downhill and x-country), snowboarding, snowshoeing, sledding, and snowmobiling in winter to hiking, biking, wildlife watching (yes, black bears are a common site up here), ATVing and much more in summer.

Enjoy golfing? Located only 10 minutes from the bottom of the mountain is the Sandpiper Resort, which is home to Sandpiper Golf Course, Rowena’s Inn on the River, and the Clubhouse Restaurant.

Please note that April and May are sometimes blessed with more winter snow than spring rain, and those accumulations can take a while to fully melt. Check weather reports, or contact us directly for current conditions at the lodge to avoid surprises.

Sasquatch Mountain / Hemlock Valley is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!
