150-year-old farmhouse on a working cattle farm in New Ross, NS
Welcome to our charming farmstay here in New Ross, which is located in the heart of picturesque Nova Scotia! We're thrilled to have you consider our 150-year-old farmhouse for your upcoming getaway.
The space
Nestled amidst rolling hills with old barns, hayfields and a backyard orchard, our farmstay offers a serene, rural retreat. The moment you arrive, you'll be greeted by the sights and sounds of our working family farm, with grazing cattle, free range chickens (in the spring, summer and fall) and a peaceful space to relax and enjoy nature all year round. The two-story farmhouse has lots of features from days-gone-by like wide plank floors, a wood cook stove in the kitchen, vintage décor and old photos. The well-equipped kitchen with great views of the farm surrounding the property inspires guests to cook and the dining room which is the perfect place to celebrate meals together with family and/or friends. The farmhouse is furnished with everything you need (including books and boardgames) for up to 6 guests to enjoy your stay.
Our accommodations are designed with your comfort in mind:
- Three bedrooms; two bedrooms have a queen bed and one bedroom
contains two twin beds (6 guests maximum)
- Two bathrooms (one with a shower and one with a deep cast iron
bathtub)
- Fully stocked kitchen and large dining room with seating for 6
- Deck with propane BBQ and Adirondack chairs.
- Fibreop internet
- Dedicated remote work haven: Enjoy a comfortable and quiet workspace, complete with a reliable high-speed internet connection, making it easy to stay productive and connected while you're away from home.
- Some infant/tolder items (highchair, stroller, playpen) available upon request.
- A dozen farm fresh eggs for cooking as well as any seasonal produce.
- 1 hour from Halifax, and roughly 40 minutes from Bridgewater, Kentville
and Windsor or 20 minutes to Chester.
Guest access
Your hosts (and your next door neighbours) will meet you for check-in and provide you with the keys at that time. The farmhouse has free driveway parking for three vehicles.
During your stay, you’ll be able to enjoy the entire house and farmhouse property itself. If you wish, you'll have the opportunity (with a guided tour) to explore our farm and interact with our animals. You can enjoy hiking trails through the surrounding forest. Please make sure to read our farm safety rules before exploring.
Other things to note
Because we have many types of farm animals, our farmstay has no pets allowed (other than service animals).
Please no smoking indoors or elsewhere on the farm. Smoking is only permitted on the back deck containing dedicated ash trays. A $500 cleaning charge will apply if a guest or a member of their group smokes in the farmstay.

The farmhouse is in the middle of a 500 acre active farm and forest operation and on a rural road with only a few houses beyond the house on a dead end road. The neighborhood is a very peaceful location.
