Apple Hill delights guests with an easy cottage style, set on a back road with hill views. The fireplace, hot tub and overall décor enhance the Catskills experience, especially after skiing at Plattekill, just 6.5 miles from the house. The deck and screened porch provide additional nooks and crannies for hanging out.

The space
The well-appointed kitchen, renovated in 2022, includes a gas stove and small island. From there a long farmhouse table provides one of three dining options for savoring your feasts (the others are on the deck and in the screened porch). The living room is at the far end of the open plan space, punctuated by a fireplace insert and pretty wood-paneled chimney. A glass slider leads out to the screened porch, which in turns leads to the deck.

There is a powder room with fun wallpaper and double Kohler sink off the living room, with the full bathroom at the start of a corridor that leads to the two bedrooms (one queen, one full). The bathroom has a tiled shower.

The hot tub is outside the living room, and a basket of flip flops is there for guests' use.

Neighborhood highlights

Apple Hill is just off a very quiet country road, which sees little traffic. It skirts Lake Wawaka, which is really the East Branch of the Delaware River, but is a section that had long ago been dammed, creating this long waterway. You can rent kayaks just a walk down the road and explore the lake and observe its abundant birdlife, which includes an eagle population that's really making a comeback. There is a largely flat loop along Old River Road and around Lake Wawaka that is sought out for walking (or biking).
