[The "Amano Residence", an old private house that lets you feel the history of the Meiji Restoration]
Time slips back to the Meiji era the moment you enter the house.
This historic house was the home of Amano Kaizo, a local leader during the Meiji Restoration, and was also the scene of an attack by government forces at that time.
The furniture from that time is also tasteful, and the marks of bayonet stabs remain on the dresser.
It is a rural town, but shopping is convenient, and the convenience store is a 10-minute walk.
You can also order delivery from the nearby Kashiki Drive-In!
A rural town close to both the city and tourist destinations.

The space
The Amano residence, which was also the scene of a battle between the Shogunate army and the government army during the Meiji Restoration.
Who is Kaizo Amano, who developed Odaiba?
Kaizo Amano was born in 1814, the eldest son of Shogoro Amano, in Sakai, Kai-Turu-gun.He moved to Edo at a young age, gained the favor of Tarozaemon Egawa, and undertook the construction of Shinagawa Daiba.Hachiro Amano of the Shojigai was temporarily cared for by Kaizo and is said to have been adopted. In 1853, when he learned that the Shimoda region had been hit by a tsunami, he rushed from Edo with a large number of laborers and encouraged the people of Shimoda. He supported the Shogunate throughout, but returned to his hometown after the Restoration. He died in November 1900 at the age of 87.
Because the Amano family supported the Shogunate, after the Meiji Restoration, the government army attacked the Amano family, and traces of the rampage in the Amano residence still remain today.
The many round marks on the dresser are said to be from government soldiers stabbing it with bayonets.
The Amano family was one of the most prominent landowners in Yamanashi Prefecture.
He made his fortune in the Odaiba development, and then put a lot of effort into charity, to the extent that in Tsuru, the Tsuru City Museum held the "Amano Kaizo Exhibition."
In addition, the Shutoku-kan, a building from the 1880s, was built in the garden of the Amano residence.
It has now been donated to Tsuru City and relocated to Basho-no-Yu.
It is still popular with citizens today as the Wami no Sato Shutoku-kan.

The building is surrounded by a garden, with a veranda surrounding the building, and when the curtains are open, it becomes a large open space.
You can feel the history in each piece of furniture in the house, and you can also see old books.
There is a dirt floor at the old entrance, and a drum hangs at the entrance.
They probably beat drums at noon to inform their families and servants.
The pictures painted on the sliding doors are also the same as they were at the time.
That alone is enough to see.
A large mansion that has truly slipped back in time to the Meiji era.
When I learned that it was a historic place attacked by government forces during the Meiji Restoration, I shuddered.
There are many old private houses, but it is rare to be able to stay in a historic building like this!
The current owner lives in another location, and it would be a waste to leave it as it is, so it has been opened as a private lodging.

Other things to note
Beware of insect bites
Of course, there are insects in the countryside.
Especially if you are from the city, please be careful as there are people who get stung by horseflies.
If you go into the grass with your ankles exposed, you will get stung.
Please be careful, especially with children, such as wearing socks. (This applies to the countryside and camping in general)
It is also a good idea to book insect repellent spray and insect bite medicine.
There is also a drug store near the Amano residence. (Matsumoto Kiyoshi)
