Where I went to school: Western Illinois University
I like to read, cook, bake, hike, bike and kayak. I can be happy indoors, but strive to spend time outside on a regular basis. I continue to exercise and weight train to stay healthy. I enjoy expanding my gardens and have recently started to learn more about digital photography. I consider hosting to be a personal and professional endeavor. Personally, I love to be hospitable, to host private gatherings and celebrations. I prefer to cook and bake everything from scratch and enjoy trying new recipes. Professionally, I love to create an environment for others to relax, work, learn and grow. When I make time for television, I enjoy watching HGTV programs. I am frequently looking for ways to improve the property and space for our family, friends and guests. Over the years, I have gained knowledge and insight from working in the parks, recreation and tourism industry. I was able to put my degrees to use as a recreational therapist, by specializing in physical rehabilitation during my "pre-motherhood" season in life. Being able to combine wilderness leadership and therapeutic recreation certifications was my dream career! Life experience has also taken me down the road of living in a foreign country, learning another language, and adapting to another culture. I have raised and home-schooled three children who are now in college and beyond. One unforeseen experience that deeply affects how I approach hosting, is living life with someone who had received a transplant and was immunosuppressed. The realization, that how I interact with someone and how I manage the home can have a serious effect on another person's health and well being, was eye opening. I believe this life experience is what helps me to create a safe, healthy and relaxing experience here at All Things Life On the Bay.
