Designed and built by hand by contemporary artist Ole Ukena. Breakfast included.

We're in Kenderan, a working Balinese village in the Tegallalang hills, about twelve minutes by scooter from central Ubud. Your villa is private: your own pool, your own studio, your own kitchen. Breakfast is included.
One important thing about getting here: Google Maps sometimes sends drivers to the wrong side of the river. Don't follow it blindly. Arrange a driver who knows the way, or message us when you're close and we'll guide you in. Sort your arrival transport with us about a week ahead and it's easy.
This is real countryside. You'll meet geckos, frogs, the occasional unidentifiable bug, and there's no 24-hour front desk. The tropics are humid, more so in rainy season. Come ready for it.
Steps from the door: a 1,000-year-old water temple with fresh spring water you can drink, and a river you can bathe in. Treat both with respect. They're in daily use by the village, not a photo op.
If village quiet sounds like too much, central Ubud will suit you better, and we have rooms there too. If it sounds right, you've found your place.

A few minutes' walk away: the Manuaba waterfall, two cascades fed by seven springs, where villagers come for melukat. Pura Telaga Waja, a thousand-year-old water temple, sits down in a river ravine, still in daily use, reached by a footpath through the paddies. In the rice fields nearby, two stone sarcophagi from 500 to 200 BC, older than any recorded Balinese kingdom. On a clear dry-season morning, Mount Agung shows itself over the terraces.
