The space
This house is best suited for up to 4 adults and 2 children. 6 adults is a squeeze. Limit 2 vehicles. Like many homes in upstate NY, this house does not have AC. In the summertime we simply open the windows.

The interior style of this cottage is a fresh take on Adirondack mountain with mid-century modern touches. Casual comfort. Lots of natural light.

In the gourmet kitchen, a coffee station is ready for your arrival with Keurig and an assortment of K-cups, as well as a French Press, Chemex pour over & Hario dripper. There's a gooseneck kettle and coffee grinder, but you'll need to BYOB - bring/buy your own beans.

Two bedrooms on the main level share a hallway bathroom. One is a king bedroom, and the other is a twin bedroom. The hallway bathroom has a shower and single vanity.

The walk-out basement on the lower level of the house is another open-concept space. It features a sitting area with TV and record player, plus a sleeping area with king bed. The basement bathroom has a soaking tub and separate walk-in shower. (Note: you must descend stairs to access the basement level.)

Also on the basement level is a flex space with a desk. It's a nice spot for remote working, or planning your next adventure. This can also double as a good play space for kids.

Full-size washer and dryer units are in an unfinished section of the basement, and ready for your use.

The backyard is wooded with lots of pine and maple trees that add a sense of privacy. It is not fenced.

For our guests who bring their well-behaved dog, we have various pet amenities, and are happy to share recommendations for our favorite dog-friendly restaurants and hiking trails. We ask that owners help us keep our yard clean and kid-friendly by picking up after their pup. A $75 pet fee is automatically added when you book with a pet.

The house is family-friendly for those traveling with infants, toddlers, young children or teens. For families with little ones we offer:
- 1 BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light (up to approx. 3 yrs old)
- 2 baby gates to restrict access to stairs
- 1 restaurant-style high chair (up to 3 yrs old or a max weight of 33 lb)
- 1 inflatable baby bath (6 - 24 months)
- outlet and door knob covers that you can apply if desired
- 1 toddler-size cot (48"x24"x9") and nap mat
- kid-friendly BPA-free plastic plates and bowls
- child safety locks on cabinets with cleaning supplies, but you must manually switch to the lock position when you arrive.

Guest access
Please note that the garage and a storage closet are locked and off limits to guests for safety reasons.

Other things to note
1950s House:
- The cottage does not have air conditioning. For summer, both bedrooms on the main level have ceiling fans, and you can sleep with the screened windows open to enjoy natural breezes.
- In colder months when the heat is on, you will hear various squeaks and radiator clangs, especially on the basement level when the heat cycles on.
- For light sleepers, there are two white noise machines.
- The 50-gallon water heater has it's limits. There is plenty of hot water to fill the soaking tub OR to take several showers. But not enough hot water to run the dishwasher, washing machine, take multiple showers and fill the soaking tub within the span of a few hours. If you run out of hot water, give it some time to let the hot water heater replenish.

Check-out List:
Lake Placid is a small community of about 2,000 year-round residents, and the labor market is stretched thin. We feel very fortunate that we've built a great relationship with our cleaner, who is excellent! She asks that we request guests take care of a few departure check-out steps that help her be more efficient.
- loading dirty towels in the washing machine and starting the cycle
- loading the dishwasher and starting the cycle
- pulling sheets down/off on beds that you've slept in (to indicate use)
I know it can be a lot to ask when travel days can be hectic. If you have a few minutes before departure on your last day, we greatly appreciate the effort. Thanks!

Parking:
In adherence with local regulations, we cannot accommodate more than 2 vehicles at the house at any time. We offer 2 parking spaces in the driveway for guest use. Parking is NOT permitted on the street or on any part of the lawn or sidewalk. If needed, I'm happy to provide info for nearby public parking lots.

Pets:
We welcome a maximum of 2 well-behaved dogs. Please inquire if you have more than 2 dogs. Neither the front or back yards are fenced. No cats; the homeowner is allergic.
